It looks like Kawhi Leonard‘s troubles during his stint with the Los Angeles Clippers are still not past him. It is fair to say his time with the franchise has been a total disaster.
The Clippers were looking to kickstart a new era and emerge from the shadow of their crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers signed LeBron James in 2018 and traded for Anthony Davis in the following year. To make a statement of their own, the Clippers signed Leonard, who was coming off a championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
Unfortunately, things turned from bad to worse for the Clippers with every passing season. Their best finish was a Western Conference Finals finish in 2021. Since then, they have failed to win a single playoff series and even missed the playoffs last season.
Pablo Torre was the journalist who exposed the Clippers’ hidden sponsorship deals with Leonard to circumvent the salary cap. The NBA conducted its own investigation since then and stripped the Clippers of five first-round picks and fined the owner, Steve Ballmer, $30 million. But Leonard was let off easy as he was handed a fine of just $750k.
However, it looks like Torre was not done. His latest report revealed fresh details about Leonard’s endorsement agreement with Boingo Wireless. The reports claimed that the two-time champion received $1.9 million from Boingo.
While speaking to the media, Leonard was asked about Torre’s latest reports. He quickly dismissed the suggestion and said he doesn’t follow the journalist or his reporting.
No, I don’t follow it. I don’t know what to think of it all, [or] really, expect. I’m not really entertained by it. Like I said before, the NBA did their job. The PA did their job. I don’t know. I don’t even know what [Torre is] talking about.

With the NBA concluding its investigation and already issuing its ruling, Kawhi Leonard was unwilling to discuss it further. He is looking to start a new life in Toronto after he was traded to the Raptors in the summer this year. The move was put on hold but was given the green light after the NBA’s investigation came to an end.
Fans react to Kawhi Leonard’s response to Pablo Torre’s latest report
Even after the NBA handed the Clippers the strictest punishment in North American sports history, Torre recently revealed that there is more information. The situation may continue to draw questions after federal prosecutors opened investigations into the Clippers.
After Kawhi Leonard’s unfazed response to Torre’s reports, fans quickly reacted on social media.

Kawhi didn't break any rules….even if it was his idea, he can try to ask for as much money as he wants
Its owner that broke rules
Why would he care?!? He still got his bag.

Fans were left unimpressed by his response and believe that he evaded the question because he is involved in the fraud himself. He revealed that he only cared about what the NBA had to say.
Kawhi Leonard requested to avoid all questions about the NBA’s investigation into him
Kawhi Leonard showed the NBA world that he can still be one of the best players in the league when healthy last season. He came seventh in the MVP race as he averaged a career-high 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 65 appearances.

With Leonard looking to turn a new leaf in Toronto, he came to his press conference on Media Day and requested all the reporters to avoid asking him anything about the NBA’s recent investigation into him and the Clippers.
I am excited to be here. I know why some of you guys came. You want to hear about the investigation, but in talking with the NBA and PA, I think the best decision is to move forward and focus on my time being a Toronto Raptor. I just want to focus on basketball.

The path to a championship through the Eastern Conference has gotten a lot harder. However, if Kawhi Leonard can stay healthy, the Raptors will be looking for a deep postseason run next year.
