Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever saw their 2026 WNBA campaign end in the first round of the playoffs. After an impressive performance in Game 2, Clark and her teammates struggled against A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces.
The two teams traded blows in Games 1 and 2, and a lot was riding on Game 3 on Thursday night. After a high-scoring first quarter, the Aces took a six-point lead into halftime. The Fever stayed within distance in the third quarter but were eventually beaten 94-83 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena on Thursday night.
The playoff intensity was on full display as both sides were physical throughout the game. Caitlin Clark found that out the hard way when she was left bloodied after taking an elbow to her face. In the fourth quarter, she was struck while going up for a rebound.

No foul was called on the play. A frustrated Clark was seen approaching the official and pointing towards the blood in her mouth. The game was stopped, and it looked like Clark might miss at least a little time, but she quickly returned and finished the game.
The Fever guard has a tendency to crash out at officials when calls do not go in her favor. While she made sure to show the official the damage she took, she remained calm and avoided any risk of getting a technical foul, something which she has been guilty of far too many times during the regular season this year.
Fans react as Caitlin Clark left bloodied after receiving an elbow to her face
Just like Caitlin Clark, even Fever head coach Stephanie White was left absolutely livid that no foul was called on the play. The play was not reviewable. The play came at a pivotal time in the fourth quarter when the Fever were trying to mount a comeback. She returned quickly but couldn’t help her team get over the line in the end.
Following the viral video of Clark showing her bloodied mouth to the official, WNBA fans were quick to react to it across social media.

I wonder how those refs feel after watching her get her ass whooped and she’s still in the game.

Go play in Europe darling, the US don't deserve you.

WNBA refs are the worst in the history of professional sports. WWE refs are more accurate and locked in than the WNBA… pic.twitter.com/O4qt3xQPJK

CLEARLY, The WNBA rigged this for Aja Wilson

Lexi was body slammed, Clark was given a bloody mouth, and Boston got double elbows to the face & they were all called against the Fever. Truly unserious league lmaoo

I'm not biased either way. That game was poorly officiated and, quite frankly, decided by the refs. I tuned in, hoping to see a decent game. I didn't care who won. What a shit show.

Fans made their frustrations clear as they reacted to the incident. They called out the poor officiating and believe that it played a major role in the game’s result.
Caitlin Clark and her teammates could not contain A’ja Wilson in Game 3
It is hard to argue against A’ja Wilson being the best player in the WNBA at the moment, and she showed why in Game 3. After a dominant Game 1, Wilson made headlines for the wrong reasons in Game 2 when she got into a verbal spat with a Fever fan.

However, she put it all behind her and was undoubtedly the best player on the court on Thursday. She recorded a double-double as she posted a game-high 36 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 37 minutes. While she received support from Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, who scored 23 and 18 points, respectively, it was Wilson who stole the show on both ends of the court.
Meanwhile, the Fever struggled with efficiency from beyond the arc, shooting just 28%. After a solid start in the first quarter, Caitlin Clark was not able to sustain it. She made just three of her 12 three-point attempts.
Kelsey Mitchell, who is coming off an impressive season as well, scored a team-high 23 points but went 30% from the field. Aliyah Boston added 19, but it was not enough in the end.
The Fever were left disappointed as their season came to an end. They will need to begin planning for next season, while the Aces wait for the winner of the series between the Dallas Wings and the Golden State Valkyries.
