With the way the Indiana Fever have been playing of late, there is no doubt that Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have vaulted themselves into consideration for end-of-season awards.
The most coveted of them, the MVP award, was supposedly set aside again for A’ja Wilson. There is no stopping the four-time winner, as she mounted another monumental campaign this year.
Her impact on the Las Vegas Aces’ success is such that other players look like they need to do some serious catching up. But lately, both Mitchell and Clark have been doing that.
While the former has been lighting up the scoreboard and making defenders look like they need to be taught fundamentals, she also surpassed one of Wilson’s records.
Clark, on the other hand, is not far behind in scoring, and her league-leading assists and improving defense are making the case for her. Her fans want the league to hand her the award, since she impacts more than 40% of her team’s offense.
However, there are others, including some of their teammates, who believe that Mitchell should also be in the running. To settle this dilemma, one teammate had a solution.
I think they deserve it, both of them. Nobody wants to be cold, but hey, I’m going to throw it out there… It will be amazing to have them, cause they definitely deserve it.
Ty Harris told reporters

The veteran guard threw up the idea that both Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell could be co-MVPs. If A’ja Wilson and Alanna Smith could be co-Defensive Player of the Year awardees, so can the Fever duo.
Indiana Fever jumps on the co-MVP bandwagon for Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell
As soon as Ty Harris‘ opinion became public, the Indiana Fever’s PR team sprang into action and posted to promote both Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell as co-MVPs.
Before this, they were highlighting the two players individually. But ever since fans, and now Harris, have started to talk about it, the franchise felt they should also join the bandwagon.
Mitchell is currently second in scoring, and Clark is behind her. The latter also leads the assists chart, which makes them good enough to be considered in the race for MVP.
The only problem is that A’ja Wilson leads the league not just in scoring, but also in stocks, i.e., steals and blocks combined. She will likely repeat as Defensive Player of the Year, which will strengthen her case to win MVP.

However, it could change if both Mitchell and Clark help the Fever surge up the leaderboard and finish ahead of the Aces. It is still a tall task, considering that the latter have one of the easiest end-of-season schedules.
Fever trumps Sophie Cunningham for 6th Player of the Year award
Apart from promoting Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark as co-MVPs, the Indiana Fever also upped their promotional work when it came to their other players.

They believe that second-year player Makayla Timpson has progressed enough to win the Most Improved Player award. Then they shifted to their best bench player.
The franchise believes that someone shooting career-high points, while also at a career-high field-goal percentage, should be the winner. If there is any doubt, Sophie Cunningham‘s third-best three-point shooting efficiency should get her in.
Sophie Cunningham for 6th Player of the Year 😮💨

she has been averaging 8.4 PPG, 47.6 FG% (career high) & 44.1 3P% (no. 3 in the WNBA & career high) this season. pic.twitter.com/83IPeihXXv
The veteran guard has been sensational off the bench, using the motivation of losing her starting job to turn in her best season yet. Since this award favors those whose production off the bench helps win games, Cunningham should be in the running since she has single-handedly tilted games in the Fever’s favor, while also being a great leader.
