Over the past couple of days, the conversations that have dominated the WNBA have centered around Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, and the Indiana Fever after they dropped two straight games.

When one looks at the scorecard from the first of those losses, it may not seem much, as the Fever lost by just two points. However, those who watched the game saw how sloppy the away team was.

That spilled over into the second game, where they struggled mightily to stop the Portland Fire from winning another one at their home arena.

But what made national headlines was the bust-up between Clark and head coach Stephanie White. Many even called for the organization to let go of the latter.

The two have cleared up the confusion surrounding their relationship and stressed that such arguments are normal in their otherwise great bond.

However, the noise surrounding the team had been that of a group without a surefire direction. That is what led the team to sit in for a meeting.

We had a long meeting yesterday, and it was a really good meeting. Hopefully, we’re trying to turn the page, and everyone is on the same page now… I think we were in that for almost two hours. We peeled back all of the layers, and so I think everyone’s on a good page right now, and we’re ready to work.

Cunningham revealed that what started as a coach’s meeting ended up being taken over by players who wanted to speak their minds. They know these past two games have been as poor as they have been, and they want to perform better.

Stephanie White reveals what went on behind closed doors

While Sophie Cunningham revealed what led to this 2-hour meeting, head coach Stephanie White joked that the discussion probably did not last that long. But then, she went on to detail why the entire group decided to talk it out amongst themselves.

I think anytime you get an opportunity to have authentic, real conversation, it’s good. This is collaborative stuff. Some of its execution and some of its learning one another, and some of its dealing with all the things our team has to deal with.

Stephanie White said

This revelation indicates that once the coaches started to point out glaring mistakes, the players responded and eventually started to speak about anything that was bothering them.

The fact that White and her players started to speak their minds indicates that they wanted to nip the problem in the bud. The season has just started, and the Indiana Fever does not want these lackluster performances to continue.

Caitlin Clark and Fever show great chemistry after meeting

Sophie Cunningham, Stephanie White, and others spoke with reporters before their practice sessions hit full speed. Now that the media were aware of what happened, some of them stayed back to observe the players.

One clip shows the starting five of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Monique Billings coming together to talk about what they want to run.

It shows the quintet breaking into smiles as they talk over what they need to practice. Then, as they disperse, Clark and Mitchell continue talking, and both are grinning during their conversation.

After they split, the point guard turns towards Boston at the baseline, throws the ball towards the center with both hands, and then joins her as they begin their play.

Again, they were smiling and joking before they started to practice a simple pick-and-roll play. If anything, this shows that whatever was going on between them has now been erased. That meeting must have had a positive impact on the roster.
