In Short
  • Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, former college rivals, have developed strong chemistry as teammates on the Indiana Fever.
  • Clark humorously trolls Boston about their past college matchup, where Clark scored 41 points to end Boston's undefeated season.
  • Their friendship and playful banter are seen as crucial for the Fever's championship aspirations, similar to successful duos in the league's history.

When Caitlin Clark first joined the Indiana Fever, it was expected that she and center Aliyah Boston would be the young core around whom the team would build its future.

Back-to-back No. 1 overall picks have a history of leading teams to championships. The Seattle Storm have experienced it twice, and the Las Vegas Aces, most recently.

The two also seemed perfect for each other. A center who thrives off pick and rolls, and a point guard, whose passing is as good as her electric scoring. Together, they would make a wonderful pairing, basketball-wise.

However, the two have a history. Boston’s last game in college did not end on a happy note, and Clark had everything to do with it.

The center’s undefeated South Carolina was stopped at the Final Four stage by the Iowa guard’s 41-point effort. But once they became teammates, the two sorted it out. Just that Clark still uses that game to troll her teammate.

In college?… I’m just joking.

This was the 24-year-old’s response when Post Moves co-host Candace Parker asked Clark what her career’s proudest moment was. The superstar was essentially trolling Aliyah Boston by side-eyeing Parker.

She’s actually not joking… I sit in the back row in the film room. Caitlin turns around, looks at me, and goes ‘I wonder what my best performance was’ and just stares at me.

The center’s saying this proves her teammate’s earlier side-eye was a shot at her. She knows that the game was what started their relationship. Even though it was heartbreaking for Boston, it brought her closer to Caitlin Clark.

Caitlin Clark trolls Aliyah Boston’s salary

During this episode of Post Moves, Candace Parker then asked the Indiana Fever duo who would foot the tab when they go out for dinner. After Aliyah Boston replied first that she would ‘put her card down,’ Caitlin Clark interjected.

She’s EPIC, she has to. She’s on that till 2029.

This was the 6’0″ guard trolling her teammate’s contract. After all, when one holds the richest contract in WNBA history, that person should be the one footing any dinner bills.

Boston did not troll Clark back by pointing out her actual income. The Iowa native earns more than any other WNBA player, and even more than some tennis and golf stars.

But this was a fun podcast session, and the two seem to be completely in sync with each other. That is why Clark then suggested that the situation will go back to normal when she signs her EPIC deal next year.

The two-time All-Star is eligible to sign a contract that will pay her $1.3 million next year. She may not surpass the $1.55 million salary Aliyah Boston will earn next year, but it will be enough to see them fight over the dinner bill.

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston’s chemistry will serve the Fever well

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston’s chemistry is real and not manufactured. The two love trolling each other, while also being there when needed.

They have become close friends, and that will work well for the Indiana Fever. Having two young core players as friends is crucial to their championship goals.

They have good relationships with other core players, but the understanding between the two best players on the squad is important if the Fever wants to continue to have success.

The Seattle Storm enjoyed quite a bit of success when Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson turned from jealous No. 1 rivals to great friends. The Australian flew all the way from her country to attend her point guard’s statue unveiling.

If Boston and Clark continue with this chemistry, maybe they, too, will enjoy enough success with the Fever that they will also be joking when each has their statues unveiled in the future.
