Three times NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano had a really tough start to the 2026 season, as he was able to score just two top-5 finishes in the first 20 races. But in the next nine races, he won thrice and found himself among the front runners for the championship.

But a bad outing at Kansas ruined his momentum, marking the start of a three week below average finish streak placing him P6 in the table, 91 points behind leader Kyle Larson who has an average of 2.8 in the chase. The only way for the No:22 Ford driver to get back to title conversation is to win at least two of the next four events.

Again, at this point, I feel like we, we, uh, we gotta win at least two of the next four, maybe, maybe more to, to pull this one off

Joey Logano said after Charlotte race.

Further talking about the point, the former champion highlighted that the upcoming four tracks, Phoenix, Talladega, Martinsville and Homestead have historically been good for him, giving the No:22 crew more hope. Joey Logano is confident that with the right car that can reduce the massive gap to Kyle Larson by the penultimate race of the year.

So, yeah, which we can. You know, I feel like we got a lot of good race tracks ahead of us, so still a positive attitude on it, that we can still do it. It’s just gotten a little bit harder than what we needed.

Joey Logano added.

Joey Logano celebrated historic 500th start for Team Penske Racing at Charlotte

Last Sunday at Charlotte marked a pretty special day for Logano and the hole No:22 crew. It was the 500th career start for the veteran with Team Penske Racing. He already became the driver with most start in the team history when he broke Rusty Wallace’s 496 start record this year and now has the opportunity to extend his start stat to a number that might never be matched.

This has been a really special year for me, but even more so at Team Penske and for Roger Penske. What this company has been able to accomplish for the last 60 years is second to none. It is truly incredible the motorsports accomplishments that this team has been able to do over different forms of motorsports.

Joey Logano said via RACER.

Further talking about the point, the 40-times Cup race winner asserted that he finds it pretty special to be part of Roger Penske’s racing legacy. He is a major part of their motorsport history that features IndyCar and IMSA championships.

Whether it’s sports cars, NASCAR, IndyCar, you name it, Roger has been involved in it. It’s special for me to be a small piece of that, and when you look at this car, it is really neat…It’s always kind of a pinch-yourself moment when you see your car on there too. You say, ‘Oh, that’s pretty neat, and you get to drive this one again.’ So, there are a lot of special moments for Team Penske.

Joey Logano asserted.

With the 500th start, Logano has become the active driver with the most start behind only his former teammates Denny Hamlin, who has 752 starts with JGR. It would be interesting to see if the Ford Mustang driver would stay long enough in the sport to match the record of the No:11 Toyota driver.
