On Sunday, October 25, DK Metcalf will line up alongside Aaron Rodgers, Germie Bernard, Jaylen Warren, Darnell Washington, and Pat Freiermuth at Stade de France in Paris for the first-ever regular-season NFL game in France. The 4-2 Steelers will face off against the 2-4 New Orleans Saints.
Metcalf has played across the USA since going pro. With the NFL dreaming of going global, players have a chance to play on different continents and in countries around the world.
A reporter asked the big Steelers wide receiver about his bucket list of countries he wants to play in.
I really don’t like travelling outside [of] the US to play football, but it’s kinda in our job description right now.

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared his honest thoughts on the NFL’s plans for international games after commissioner Roger Goodell teased that Tokyo (Japan) is also on their radar.
I think there could be 16 sites around the world at some point. Canada, Mexico, probably another South American country, multiple European countries. There was a game in Australia this year. The league has a pretty far reach, and there’s more coin to be made, they’re going to look into it.
Aaron Rodgers said
Fans pushed back on the NFL hosting a game in Paris given the riot-like situation in the French capital. Student protests have engulfed the City of Love over the last few weeks. The situation has escalated at various places.
Despite the risk of the protests hampering the game, the NFL has green-lit the kickoff. The Steelers landed in Paris on Thursday. However, Rodgers would have preferred to arrive on Monday like the Saints.
Aaron Rodgers on safety concerns in Paris amid the ongoing demonstrations: “I definitely think that the NFL is alert to what’s going on. This game means a lot to the NFL. If it was unsafe, then I’m sure we wouldn’t be here.” https://t.co/leCjXeE0Xv

The four-time league MVP had the same complaint last year before the Steelers game in Ireland. He wanted to soak in the local history and taste a few pints of Guinness.
“I played in three countries now, and each of them we’ve left on Thursday early evening,” Aaron Rodgers said. “Would have been nice one time to come over on a Monday.” After another late arrival, the race to acclimate is on for the Steelers https://t.co/KHIvZEvDyA

DK Metcalf needs to step up and play like the Steelers WR1
DK Metcalf moved to Pittsburgh to establish himself as an elite WR1. With Rodgers as his quarterback, he was expected to rub shoulders with the likes of Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Puka Nacua. However, his stint with the Steelers has been disappointing so far.

Moreover, his debut campaign ended after his controversial altercation with a Lions fan. He caught 59 passes for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Metcalf has played in every game in 2026. He leads the Steelers receivers with 30 receptions for 318 yards and one touchdown in six starts. But that’s nowhere close to WR1 numbers.
In fact, rookie Bernard has outplayed him in the last two games. The second-round pick out of Alabama has 17 receptions, 167 yards, and one touchdown in the last two outings. Rodgers has faith in the Pro Bowl wideout, but the big receiver needs to deliver clutch moments.
We might need to have a conversation about Germie Bernard. Gregg Rosenthal called Bernard the Steelers’ “1A” at WR with DK Metcalf as “1B.” I completely agree. Bernard has been THAT good. https://t.co/QgDImqPxup

The Seahawks drafted Metcalf with the 64th overall pick in 2019. He played six seasons in the NFC West before moving to the AFC in 2025. Seattle traded Metcalf to the Steelers for a second-round pick, along with a pick swap in the sixth and seventh rounds.
DK Metcalf has 527 receptions for 7492 yards and 55 touchdowns in 118 regular-season appearances. In the postseason, he has 28 receptions for 493 yards and5 touchdowns.
Metcalf played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels. He caught 67 passes for 1228 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons.
