Former New York Yankees star Jorge Posada recently made an eye-opening statement regarding the team. In a conversation with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the ex-catcher claimed he does not feel welcomed by the team.
The Puerto Rican star spent his entire career with the Yankees. After being drafted by the team in 1990, he made his debut in 1995 and went on to spend 17 seasons as an MLB player in New York.
During this time with the team, he won 4 World Series championships, hit 275 home runs, and drove in 1,065 runs while batting with a .273 average. Along with Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte, he formed the “Core 4” of the Yankees.
In 2015, his No.20 was retired by the team. So for the Yankees fans, he is one of the most beloved figures in franchise history. However, there seems to be a strained relationship between him and the team’s front office.
During an appearance on The Show podcast, host Joel Sherman asked Posada whether he would like to come back to the team in some management role and join the coaching staff of Aaron Boone. While the 56-year-old is ready to help his ex-side, he does not feel that the team wants him.
I mean, I could, but I don’t think they want me there, to tell you the truth.
Jorge Posada said on The Show podcast
The 5-time All-Star then claimed that he does not feel welcomed by the team, even during Spring Training.
I don’t feel welcome when I go there. … I don’t feel like they want me there. So I don’t go.
Jorge Posada added
Jorge Posada was asked if he thinks he could improve the Yankees "unacceptable" behaviors by bringing his fiery attitude and baseball instincts around the current team: "I could, but I don’t think they want me there. I don’t feel welcome when I go there. Even in Spring Training… So I don’t go." (via @nypostsports)

He then referred to the tough end of his career in 2011. As per the New York Post, there were some disagreements between him and the team in his final season regarding his playing time.
Social media reactions to Jorge Posada’s comments regarding the Yankees
Jorge Posada’s recent comments regarding the New York Yankees took many by surprise. Him claiming not feeling welcomed by the team did not sit well with the Yankees fans on social media.

On X, many came to his support and slammed the front office. One user wrote, “The organization really is completely broken,” while slamming the team.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
Holy hell, the organization really is completely broken.

That’s the saddest thing I’ve read so far about the Yankees this year. Jesus. We’re doomed. Again.

Cashman is the common denominator for the Yankees problems. He needs to go.

This falls on Hal and Cashman

If it’s not Jorge Posada it’s Jeter and others saying the same shit. Along the same lines. Brian Cashman is the problem and he always has been. He burned a bridge with Aaron Judge too during negotiations. Cashman is the disease that continues to plague the New York Yankees.

What a horrific look for everyone involved. This organization is in an awful position. https://t.co/ZqPcd8IxOp pic.twitter.com/s7kaudnFEi

Why doesn't Posada feel welcomed around the Yankees? Probably because they know he wouldn't be a puppet to Cashman and would actually challenge the players. God forbid that would happen.

Such a joke https://t.co/70dVDcyW0w
Torre, Jeter, Bernie, Posada, A-rod, and Gardner all have issues with the Yankees

Any owner who cared just a tad more than ZERO would be able to connect the dots and notice the recurring problem
Doesn’t reveal anything we didn’t know already. Brian Cashman is an enabled tyrant with a pedigree that hasn’t been relevant or considered a winner in almost two decades

Nothing to even discuss because he’s not only back, but extended for years to come https://t.co/Lyvjxz7QXH
As if the recent postseason debacles weren’t enough, this is the most embarrassment I have felt as a Yankee fan. Unacceptable

The Yankees’ front office, led by General Manager Brian Cashman, was already under heat from the fans after the team had another playoff failure. After getting past the Boston Red Sox in the American League Wild Card Series (ALWCS), the Bronx Bombers got swept 3-0 in the American League Division Series (ALDS) by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Ex-Yankees star weighs in on Jorge Posada’s comments
Jorge Posada’s comments regarding the New York Yankees caused a massive stir on social media. One of his former teammates, Joba Chamberlain, later weighed in on the matter and how much Posada’s words said about the current situation in the Yankees clubhouse.

In his tweet on X, the former relief pitcher dropped an 8-word message and wrote, “Says a lot coming from him, just saying.”

Chamberlain was perhaps surprised by how such a beloved figure in Yankees history was treated by the team. While replying to a fan who opined that the Yankees “look down” on former players, the 41-year-old simply claimed, “Who knows anymore.”

Whether Posada gets any role with the team in the future remains to be seen. For now, the AL East side is sticking with Aaron Boone and will let him run down his contract, which will expire at the end of next season.
