Champions League: Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk Player Ratings as Karim Benzema strikes twice

Real Madrid went closer to qualification to the next round of the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Ukrainian Premier League side Shakhtar Donetsk at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema scored a brace while Fernando scored the sole goal for the visitors.
Let us have a look at how each player from the two teams performed:
Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois (GK) (7/10): Courtois made some important saves and was kept busy by the visitors throughout the game.
Ferland Mendy (6/10): Ferland Mendy was on par with his defending partners and has to be faster than he was to keep up in the Champions League.
David Alaba (6/10): David Alaba also was not at the top of his game and can do much better.
Eder Militao (5/10): Eder Militao struggled to keep up with the pace of the Shakhtar Donetsk wingers and was slow.
Daniel Carvajal (6/10): Carvajal put up a decent shift in the game with his defensive performance but was not useful when he was brought up front to assist Real Madrid in the attack.
Luka Modric (7/10): Modric was decent in the midfield but never looked threatening enough with the ball to put the visitors on the back foot.
Casemiro (7/10): Casemiro was slow and was caught out on possession on several occasions and was not that great.
Toni Kroos (8/10): Kroos was not effective in his midfield duties but put on an extensive shift in attack and helped out his side with scoring opportunities.
Vinicius Junior (9/10): The Brazilian’s quick run with the ball created the second goal of the game. He was a menace for the visitors at the back and had a great game.
Karim Benzema (10/10): Benzema was easily the best player on the pitch. Crafted a brilliant first goal before ramming it home for a second.

Nacho (6/10): Nacho was decent in defending and did not leave much for the visitors to eke out, especially down the wings.

Anatolli Trubin (GK) (6/10): Trubin was struggling to keep up with the number of shots Real Madrid had on goal and was not at the best of his abilities.
Dodo (6/10): Dodo was decent down the wings and helped his side with attacking runs down the left-wing and was useful.
Marlon (5/10): Marlon struggled to keep up with the pace of Vincius Jr and was caught slow in his track backing abilities, especially when Real Madrid made a counter-attacking run.
Mykola Matvienko (4/10): Matvienko was not useful down the right side in attack or in defence. He gave away balls way too cheaply on occasion.
Ismaily (6/10): Ismaily put up a decent shift in the middle and was useful in defensive abilities but lacked his creative boots.
Maycon (6/10): Maycon was not much better than his partner in midfield and had an on-par performance.
Taras Shaparenko (7/10): Shaparenko was a creative masterpiece against Real Madrid. He created numerous scoring opportunities and was a constant threat for Real Madrid.
Tete (7/10): Tete was a creative force in himself as well alongside Taras Shaparenko. He also found gaps in the Real Madrid defence with his impeccable passing.
Alan Patrick (6/10): Patrick was one of the few weak links in the Shakhtar Donetsk attack. He did get some chances to score but he blew them up with a hapless bit of finishing.
Mykhailo Mudryk (7/10): Muydryk put on a firm shit in the second half. He held up play with his ball holding capabilities and was spotted to take the attack to Real Madrid.
Fernando (8/10): Fernando scored a stunner to equalise in the first half. He was a constant menace upfront and was one of the finest players on the pitch against Shakhtar Donetsk.
