Fortnite Weather Update

Fortnite’s new Chapter has brought with it the usual batch of new content with big map changes, and new mechanics in the form of new characters and other inclusions. There are also a lot of new features being incorporated in the game as the season gets ahead at its peak.

A recent Fortnite Chapter 3 hotfix has revealed that Tornados are coming to the game, all active to change the gameplay experience for players.

“If you see a tornado start to form, that’s no signal to flee. Instead, run into it as a swirling escape strategy! You’ll spin round and round ‘til you choose to glide to safety — or if you stay spinning long enough — ‘til the twister spits you out. Don’t worry: you won’t take fall damage if you get hurled,” the blog says.

Tornadoes aren’t the only aspect of extreme weather coming to Fortnite, however, as data miners have uncovered that we will be getting lightning storms as well. If you are struck by an electrical bolt from one of these then you will take 10 damage but also gain a speed boost, similar to when you consume a chili chug splash.

Running into a tornado causes it to pick you up and float you around in the air. You can exit the tornado when you’re ready and glide down to a completely new location. The tornado will automatically spit you out in a random direction and you’ll land without taking fall damage if you wait for a longer time.

Tornadoes will use lots of physics to pick up and throw many objects. However, only 1 tornado currently exists, more with varying intensities could be added later.
