“I was never offered money”- Hue Jackson releases new statement over claims against Browns owner

Hue Jackson and Jimmy Haslam

Former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson earlier stated that the Browns owner Jimmy Haslam also wanted the team to lose the games to get a better draft pick just like Brian Flores mentioned in his lawsuit against the Miami Dolphins owner as he was offered $100,000 per game to lose in order to get a better position in the upcoming draft.

The Cleveland Browns were in shambles during the 2019 season as they had a record of 6-10 and the earlier statement made by Hue Jackson was making sense as the record speaks itself that they were tanking to get a good player in the upcoming draft.

However, things have turned quickly as Jimmy Haslam in his recent statements denied getting offered to get paid by the Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to lose games and said, “No, I was never offered money to lose games like Brian Flores had mentioned.”

“I think this is a totally different situation but has some similarities”– Hue Jackson

Hue Jackson spoke to CNN and said, “No, I was never offered money like Brian Flores had mentioned.”, He added, “When you talk about incentivizing a four-year plan that led to the team not being able to play as well, that people benefited off of that, that’s different. But at the same time, it has some of the same similarities to it.”

Hue Jackson further talked about the Browns owner and said, “I told Jimmy that what he was doing was very destructive, to not do this because it’s going to hurt my career and every other coach that worked with me and every player on the team. And I told him that it would hurt every Black coach that would follow me. And I have the documents to prove this.”

Jimmy Haslam fired Jackson in 2018 after he posted a 3-36-1 record over two-and-a-half seasons and was never able to take this team anywhere but after he got sacked the Cleveland Browns in the 2020 NFL season had made it to the AFC Divisional Round where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs who eventually went on to win the AFC.
