“Maybe then I have to come down”- Kayla Harrison lists the conditions for fighting at 135-lbs in the future

Kayla Harrison
Kayla Harrison opens up about his potential move to Bantamweight. In October 2021, Harrison defeated Taylor Guardado to win her second lightweight tournament in the PFL.
That win helped her to claim the winning prize of 1 million dollars and also ended her contract with the organization. Currently being one of the most popular and marketable female athletes in the world of MMA, this created a lot of buzz about her next move. She instantly became one of the most valuable free agents in the market.
Kayla Harrison about her move to the 135 lbs

Kayla Harrison recently did an interview with the MMA Junkie where she discussed her future move, preferred weight class, and challengers.
During the interview, the fighter revealed that if Julianna Pena is ready to fight her at 145 then she might not have to move down. She told reporter, Danny Segura “I also heard that she would fight me at 145 for the right amount of money, so I probably won’t have to fight 135…do I want to fight 135, f*** no.”
After canceling out the assumption of not fighting at 135, Harrison also gave an ideal scenario that might interest her to make the weight cut and fight at 135. The fighter revealed that she can come down but the fight purse had to be very huge or there is a tough young challenger who starts a beef between them both.
“Yeah Unless I get offered as you know, a lot…of money. Or if there’s like some undefeated young hungry absolute killer who’s at 135 lbs and she starts talking a little smack, maybe I have to come down. But other than that no,” said Harrison.
Currently, it’s hard to tell which promotion Harrison wants to go to but it seems like UFC is the top runner on the list. The fighter has given ideas about fighting the current UFC women’s Bantamweight, Julianna Pena. And the chance of this fight taking place is now more than ever. It will be interesting to see if someone from outside can come and beat the existing champions in the UFC.
