Coach Marian Vajda reveals shocking reason for splitting up with Novak Djokovic

2022 has been a devastating year for Serbian legend Novak Djokovic. At the start of the season, he was granted green chit by the Australian Open authorities to play at the open without being vaccinated. But he was stopped at the airport by the border police and after this a series of events followed which included interrogation and isolation for nine hours. But the player was still not allowed to play at the Oz Open.

After this, he tried his best to come out of the situation and compete for his 21st Grand Slam title. But that did not happen and the player got stuck even more in the situation and he was finally deported back to his nation after losing the court case.

Novak recently played at the ATP Dubai Tennis Championships where he won the opening round against Lorenzo Musetti with the score of 6-3,6-3 and clashed against Karen Khachanov in the round of 16 and won with the score of 6-3,7-6. But he lost the quarter finals to Jiri Vesely with a score of 4-6,6-7 and got knocked out of the tournament which also led to the decline in his ranking. He was previously ranked as World No.1 but now his ranking is World No.2.

His coach Marian Vajda has been his backbone for a long time. The duo won 85 titles together and Vajda was his head coach. But recently both the legends announced their split which left Novak’s fans disheartened. According to reports that came earlier, the split had nothing to do with Djokovic’s ongoing vaccination debacle.

But Vajda spoke for the first time after the split and said that as an unvaccinated player, the Serb will have a limited number of tournaments to play and given that Ivanisevic is already in his team, Vajda didn’t believe Djokovic needed his services.

” As an unvaccinated player, he will have a limited number of tournaments, and he already has a strong team with coach Goran Ivanišević. After considering all the circumstances, we decided by mutual agreement that we would end our professional cooperation,” Vajda revealed.
