“Shut up Mats, no one cares,” Kyrgios defends Murray over harsh Wilander criticism

Andy Murray, struggling with hip injury over the past year has attempted to make a return to the top of tennis where he once belonged. Murray was given a wildcard to the main draw of the French Open but however, he could not make much use of this opportunity losing in straight sets to Stan Wawrinka in the 1st round, winning only 6 games in the match.
Mats Wilander criticized Andy Murray for his dismal performance and giving false hopes of a comeback. He also said that he had wasted the wildcard which could have been given to a deserving player. Nick Kyrgios, who is known to express his opinions bluntly took to Twitter and defended Murray over Wilander’s comments and asked Wilander to shut up.

After Murray’s convincing loss to Stan Wawrinka, Mats Wilander, 7-time Grandslam champion, criticized him for giving everyone a false hope of his return to the top and accused him of wasting a wildcard which could have been given to a better candidate.
Mats Wilander said, “I worry about Andy Murray. I would love to hear him say why he is out there, giving us a false sense of hope that he going to come back one day. I keep getting a little bit disappointed, is it his right to be out there doing that? Why? I did it and I shouldn’t have, it was the biggest mistake I did in my career. I think Andy Murray needs to stop thinking of himself and start thinking about who he was. Does he have a right to be out there taking wildcards from the young players?”
Nick Kyrgios took to Twitter and asked Mats Wilander to shut up and also sided with Andy Murray claiming that as long as he continues to play, fans will appreciate him for his efforts. In a cheeky end to the Tweet, Kyrgios also mentioned that he had never even seen a point of Wilander’s match.
