“Yea that’s the ringless talk” – NBA Twitter trolls the life out of Lakers’ Russell Westbrook for his ‘keep having fun’ take which contradicted LeBron James and Darvin Ham

Russell Westbrook and LeBron James
The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a 5 game-win streak and coach Darvin Ham along with LeBron James wanted to keep the spirits high. In a behind-the-scenes clip doing the rounds on Twitter. Darvin Ham and LeBron working towards the high spirit goal said the encouraging war cries to good responses.
That was until another voice spoke up from the crowd, that of Russell Westbrook. The former MVP, wanting to join in the leadership role told the team to “have fun”. After the message of “let’s get greedy” from LeBron and coach Ham, the rather contradictory message to have fun from Russ was funny and elicited a hilarious response from LeBron. The King looked like he had just seen a ghost.
NBA Twitter was as usual, very quick to jump on Russ’ troll comment. Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are already very restless. The team is below .500 even after a winning streak but finally looking like a team that can challenge the best for the first time since they were the #1 seed before Anthony Davis’ injury in the 2020-21 season. And so, at the first sign of a winning mentality forming, an unserious comment from Westbrook wasn’t appreciated by the fans with one describing Russ’ words as “ringless talk”. You can find some more reactions here below:
Russell Westbrook is not without his defenders though, and they also came out in full force to protect their guy from the online onslaught. One of the tweets pointed out how LeBron James himself had a similar statement in 2020 after a loss to… You guessed it, Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets in 2019-20.
They might have different mindsets but it’s clear that the Lakers need both to keep playing some winning basketball and stay on the fortunate track of improvement.

LeBron James, Lakers look for a 6th-straight win as they head to Denver

The Los Angeles Lakers head to Colorado’s capital to face the Denver Nuggets and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. Both teams are red hot coming into this one. For the Lakers, a 5-game win streak, on the upswing, and looking to continue the season turnaround. Led by LeBron James who has been exemplary in Anthony Davis’ absence.
Not having Anthony Davis will be tough for the Lakers though against Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets’ big man has won 2 straight MVPs. And yet, this might be his best season. He’s averaging a near triple-double on an unheard-of 62% FG%. In terms of true shooting %, Jokic is having the most efficient 20+ PPG season in league history with a whopping 68.7% mark.
In the buildup to the game, Nuggets coach Michael Malone praised both James and Jokic and compared the two. He said: “I’ve been around some really good players, so it’s like LeBron James is a guy that has seen everything under the sun, and I compare those two a lot and people think I’m crazy, but aside from the athleticism, their IQ and their ability to play chess not checkers is just remarkable. And to read the situation, not only how I’m being guarded but the other four defenders on the floor, and Nikola he’s like a computer, he reads that stuff really quick and makes the right read 9.9 times out of 10.“ The game is sure to be an exciting one.
