IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings exchange funny and witty banter around Glenn Maxwell’s innings

Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell

The opening match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League saw a nail-biting and edge-of-the-seat thriller between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It was Virat Kohli’s men who came out on top as they won on the last ball of the match.

Glenn Maxwell, Ab De Villiers starred with the bat but it was Harshal Patel who turned things around for RCB with his five-wicket haul.

Glenn Maxwell, playing his first match in Red and Gold delivered to his expectations after a horrible last season for Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab) where he can’t even manage to hit a single maximum. Maxwell’s first six in IPL after 171 balls led to a funny and witty exchange of words between RCB and PBKS on twitter.

RCB and PBKS engage in banter

Former RCB players Chris Gayle and KL Rahul

Trolling the former team of Maxwell Punjab Kings to release him, RCB admin on Twitter wrote, “First Maxi-mum in Red and Gold and he nearly hits it out of Chennai! Thank you @PunjabKingsIPL. We would hug you if not for social distancing.”

PBKS admin too didn’t keep quiet as he was quick to respond with,  “Aww, and thank you for Gayle, KL, Mandy, Sarfaraz, Mayank…”.

Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan and Mayank Agarwal were all a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier and have now proved to be a good addition to the Punjab Kings Squad.

Just when we thought that Punjab Kings were ahead in the Twitter battle, the Bangalore admin gave a mouth shutting reply on account of the similarities between the latest kit of Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s earlier kit. “You missed jersey, helmet, pads…and logo? But between us, who’s keeping count?” This reply ended the banter and I guess RCB were victorious here too.

Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play each other on 30th April at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Let’s see who will win the real on-field battle.
