Team USA won the coveted gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Many star-studded names were present on the roster that clinched top honors in the French capital. However, many other notable players wanted to be a part of the team, including the Denever Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon.

Team USA’s selection process was long questioned by fans. Especially when they left out the 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown. The other players who fans wanted to see on the team were Paul George and Draymond Green, to name a few. Instead, Boston Celtics’ Derrick White was picked over these experienced stars.

In a recent interview, Gordon spoke about his Nuggets teammate Nikola Jokic and also voiced his thoughts on Team USA not picking him. He said that he was expecting a call-up from Team USA but it never came.

I was asked about wanting to play for Team USA then the call never came. So like that was a bit of a salt there… Then watching Jokic take them to the wire there… he almost washed those cats… that was dope. But all that being said, Merica.

Aaron Gordon ‘hopes to get’ Denver Nuggets contract extension done quickly

Aaron Gordon has been one of the most reliable players for the Denver Nuggets since he joined them after leaving Orlando Magic in 2021. He tasted some much-needed success when he won the 2023 NBA title with them.

Now, Gordon wants more and recently stated that he loves the organization. The 29-year-old can soon begin negotiating and committing to a new four-year contract when the Nuggets have their first training camp session at Ball Arena. He is hoping to get the contract extension done as soon as possible.

I really love this organization… I hope we get it done (contract extension). It seems like it’s moving forward in the right direction.

Additionally, Gordon enjoys playing with Serbian teammate Nikola Jokic and wants to share the court with him more often. This is largely because Jokic plays a major role in the Denver Nuggets’ side. Thanks to him, they are one of the favorites to win the Western Conference this season.

With a game average of 20.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 6.9 assists on 55.7% shooting, Jokic is a wizard with the ball. Hence, it will be intriguing to watch how the Nuggets perform in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
