The last time Aaron Rodgers battled Joe Flacco, fans and the media christened it the “Unc Bowl”, owing to both quarterbacks being 40 years old or above.

That game was pure cinema, with both the ‘Uncs’ battling it out over the air, with the Bengals winning by just 2 points. In Week 11, the four-time league MVP was about to get a chance to even their record.

Rodgers started the game with a touchdown pass to Kenneth Gainwell. On the very next drive, Flacco matched with a deep toss to Tee Higgins.

After that, neither the 40+ year olds could get their teammates going until the Steelers QB managed to drive his team into a position to extend their lead with a field goal.

With a 10-6 lead heading into halftime, Aaron Rodgers was seen clutching his left wrist as he was coming off the field. Soon, word came out that the California native had suffered a ‘slight break’ on that wrist.

The Steelers sent out Mason Rudolph in the second half in place of their starting QB, and he performed admirably. He led the team to a field goal and a touchdown before the defense decided it was their time.

It now seems that the Steelers will have to continue with Rudolph under center at least for the next game against the Chicago Bears until there is further news about their veteran QB.

Aaron Rodgers to undergo tests on Monday to determine recovery

Usually, small fractures are not something that would impact an NFL athlete to the extent that they cause worry amongst fans and the team’s personnel.

In Aaron Rodgers’ situation, he is 41 years old, not an age where fractures heal at the same pace as it does when he was initially playing in the league. To determine the extent of the damage, the Super Bowl champion QB will undergo tests on Monday.

In all likelihood, he will miss the game against the Bears. He would rather stay back in Pittsburgh and let his left wrist heal over the next 10 days. The Steelers will already be without Jalen Ramsey after his on-field ejection for roughing up Ja’Marr Chase.

In Weeks 13 and 14, the Steelers will face tough playoff competition in the form of the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. Both are must-wins if the franchise wants to make it to the playoffs this season.

More importantly, this season is Aaron Rodgers’ first chance to play in a postseason game after last playing in one for the Green Bay Packers back in 2021.

Mason Rudolph grateful after major win

With Aaron Rodgers heading to the medical room, fans did not get a chance to watch the final outcome of Unc Bowl 2.0. Instead, they witnessed Mason Rudolph come alive for the team he was drafted to.

I love playing here. This is where I was drafted, this is home. Very special.

Mason Rudolph said after the game

The 30-year-old is best known for producing some flashes of brilliance. This game was one of them, as he did his part and finished the game with a 118.5 quarterback rating.

Most football fans might remember him for his scuffle with Cleveland Browns quarterback Myles Garrett. But if he can continue this performance into their next game against the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears, Steelers fans will probably line up outside his house with gifts.

The next three games will make or break the franchise’s playoff hopes. Therefore, it is crucial for Mike Tomlin that his backup quarterback plays well, and his starting QB returns healthy.
