Aaron Rodgers is in the market for a new team after the New York Jets’ new head coach Aaron Glenn, told him that he was no longer needed. Not to worry, his former Green Bay Packers teammate proposed a solution that might come in handy for the 41-year-old quarterback.
James Jones was part of the Super Bowl-winning Packers team with Rodgers and knows him better than most. Jones, now part of The Facility with Emmanuel Acho and Chase Daniel on FOX, referred three teams that must take a chance with Rodgers.
The Vikings, the Steelers, the Niners—I think those are the teams at the top of the list that should want him.
James Jones said on Friday
The former wide receiver pointed out that Rodgers logged 4000+ passing yards and 28 touchdowns right after recovering from a devastating ACL tear. If he can put up numbers for the Jets with a leaky offensive line, then teams like the 49ers can capitalize on his experience.
Aaron Rodgers can still play football at a high level. If I’m the Vikings, the Niners, or the Steelers, I’m definitely picking up the phone.

Daniel, on the other hand, wants Rodgers to join the 49ers NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams who could release Matthew Stafford.
I would not be surprised if he wants to play with Sean McVay. If they end up trading [Matthew] Stafford, McVay could give him [Rodgers] a year or two.

Rodgers to 49ers sounds right
The 49ers famously passed on Rodgers in 2005 to draft Alex Smith as the first overall pick. If John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan do go for the 10x Pro Bowler, then it will be like a homecoming for Rodgers, who played college ball for Berkeley.

NBC Sports Boston writer Logan Reardon, in a recent article, pointed out the same. Bringing in veteran help might even give the Niners leverage in the Brock Purdy deal.
Twenty years later, could San Francisco bring the Bay Area kid home? Brock Purdy is extension-eligible with one year left on his rookie deal. Maybe, just maybe, the 49ers think this team needs a veteran QB to get over the hump?
Logan Reardon wrote
It will certainly be cheaper than paying Purdy 50 million+ in 2026. Even though Lynch has repeatedly echoed that Purdy is the guy for the 49ers, signing Rodgers isn’t a bad idea.
