Since the New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh, his relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers has gained immense limelight. Fans have been blaming the veteran quarterback for getting Saleh fired, even though the franchise front office has denied his involvement in the decision-making.

It all started when Rodgers and Saleh were caught in an awkward moment on the field in week 3 when the former scored the first touchdown of the season for the Jets and the latter went to hug him. However, the four-time NFL MVP not only rebuffed Saleh’s attempted hug but also gave him a death stare as he walked away.

However, it turns out their discord has been ongoing since the training camp, which the veteran quarterback missed for a trip to Egypt. Rodgers was reportedly upset with Saleh for throwing him under the bus by labeling his absence from the mandatory training camp as “unexcused.”

The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported that the Jets’ quarterback went to confront the former defensive coordinator about his statement on his absence. At that time, it was said they had resolved everything and “everyone’s great now”–which turned out to be untrue.

Tensions between Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh emerge following his departure

According to a recent report by WFAN, the quarterback-head coach duo had a detachment in the offseason which became more evident as the season began. After their awkward exchange in week 3, the two had a heated argument post-game which made the ten-time Pro Bowler put the entire blame on the head coach for the loss against the New England Patriots.

WFAN also revealed that tension grew to such an extent that Rodgers was not even looking at his head coach. Though they cleared the air between them by telling the media that nothing was serious, fans didn’t seem to buy it especially when Saleh was fired two weeks after his incident with Rodgers.

While the fans are criticizing Rodgers for throwing the 45-year-old out of the Jets, despite his 20-36 record in three seasons, Jets owner Woody Johnson has come forward to clarify that the quarterback was not part of this decision in any manner and not even consulted before taking this big decision. Until they find a permanent replacement, they have made Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich the interim head coach.
