Had the weather not been as bad, the game between the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos might have been more entertaining than the stalemate it became. However, for a Super Bowl-contending Jets team led by Aaron Rodgers, the poor conditions were no excuse for such a disappointing performance. Now, head coach Robert Saleh is left with plenty to ponder after a loss to a team they were expected to dominate.

For a team that showed a buildup of rhythm in their first three games, saw a dip today. Prime among the problems was cadence on offense. Head coach Saleh was asked about it as penalties on pre-snap motions seemingly dented that rhythm.

We gotta figure it out, whether or not we’re good enough or ready to handle all of the cadence. Cadence had not been an issue all camp. Felt like our operation had been operating pretty good. Obviously, today took a major step back.

In his words, he did not specifically mention his star QB. But since Rodgers leads the offense in pre-snap adjustments, it felt as if Robert Saleh was indirectly taking a shot at his superstar.

His words were backed by the 13 total penalties the New York Jets racked up in this game. Most of it stunted drives to the red zone and ended up costing the team. The Jets did not have a touchdown to show all game.

On the other hand, the Denver Broncos, having their own set of issues, went about their way to get a crucial touchdown. That score would end up being the difference in the final score (10-9). For the Jets, it was a loss that posed a lot of questions.

Aaron Rodgers disagrees with Robert Saleh’s reasons for the loss

Aaron Rodgers went up to the post-game press conference podium after his head coach. When asked about his HC’s comments, he had a differing opinion.

That’s one way to do it. The other way is to hold them accountable. I mean, we haven’t had an issue. We’ve had one false start. Morgan had one false start, I believe, until this.

The four-time league MVP had a point there. As his offensive line accounted for only five false starts among the 13 penalties. So, the rest were not the unit’s fault, but their inability to avoid sacks did.

The rest of the team did not perform to their expectations. In a game where they went up against a rookie QB, the team fumbled the bag. They could not help converting Rodgers’ 225 yards into scores. Instead, the defense allowed the only touchdown of the game.

That score, along with other misses, ended up leaving the New York Jets with the same record as the Denver Broncos. Surprising, as the Broncos are in rebuild mode whereas the Jets are supposed to wring out wins on their way to the Super Bowl.
