Despite the impressive 3-1 standing, Baker Mayfield became subject to critical scrutiny in recent times over his bold comment about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, involving the NFL legend-turned-analyst Tom Brady. And looks like, the latter didn’t let it go as many thought he would, instead, he responded with a fitting reply to the former.
During broadcasting Tampa Bay, with whom he won his seventh Super Bowl ring, on Sunday in the matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, Brady took the opportunity to address Mayfield’s comments about his playing methods and how it made the environment in the Bucs very stressful.
Brady didn’t hold back in the booth and had a very fitting answer for Mayfield and all the people who criticized his harsh approach towards football.
Remaining as competitive as he was as the GOAT quarterback, Brady fired back at Mayfield, stating the right approach to a game, which is the “right mindset.” Brady believes the key to victory is pushing oneself and his teammates out of their comfort zones and living up to the high expectations that fans expect from the teams.
Baker Mayfield reflects on the stressful environment under Tom Brady
After Brady departed from Tampa Bay, the team brought Mayfield as his successor. Since his first year, the standards for him to live up to were already on the peak as he was replacing the winningest quarterback in the history of the NFL.
Mayfield finally opened up about the tense environment of the Bucs in a recent interview with The Casa De Klub podcast. Although the signal-caller had an impressive rookie season, he performed under constant pressure to play to the level of Brady.
Contrary to the legend’s tough approach which certainly gave results, Mayfield believes football shouldn’t be viewed so competitive. Instead, it can be fun and that’s what he brought to Tampa Bay once he joined. Despite both methods being absolutely opposite to each other, both bring results that’s why, it remains tough to make a pick.
