Football players exude their passion and love of the game each time they take the field. However, some players go overboard and express the same energy off the field, and at that point, they get hit with the ‘annoying’ tag next to their name. A recent survey conducted amongst NFL fans concluded that Aaron Rodgers and Travis Kelce are the two most annoying players in football.
The Action Network conducted the survey. It was carried out online by Research Without Barriers and conducted from July 31st to the 5th of August this year. The survey comprised 3,013 responses from fans in America.
It featured multiple questions, ranging from which NFL fanbase is the most annoying, to which NFL player is the most annoying off the field. Aaron Rodgers won the honors in the latter category by an overwhelming margin with 27% of the responses naming him. Following him was Travis Kelce and then Odell Beckham Jr. in the third place.
Fanbases of 24 NFL teams have voted for Aaron Rodgers as the most annoying player in the league
Unsurprisingly, 43% of Chicago Bears fans who took part in the survey voted for Rodgers as the most annoying player. Considering his 25-5 record against the team in his stint with the Packers, it is common knowledge that Aaron Rodgers lives rent-free in their head. Other reasons for the Jets’ quarterback to be considered annoying could be due to his rants on subjects other than football.
Aaron Rodgers has unorthodox opinions on a lot of issues. He has been open about his consumption of the herb ayahuasca. Rodgers gained notoriety after he strongly opposed the NFL’s vaccine mandate during the pandemic. He then misled the public to believe he had taken the vaccine through wordplay by admitting that he was ‘immunized.’ Considering all these reasons, it isn’t a shocker to see Rodgers top the list.
Travis Kelce ranked in at the number 2 spot and it might not be his fault that he is featured in this list. His relationship with Taylor Swift has resulted in him being associated with the word ‘annoying.’ Ever since the duo made its relationship public, Swift has been hogging the presence at Chiefs’ games with media outlets and sports pages consistently posting updates of them.
The other names on the list apart from Rodgers, Kelce, and Odell Beckham Jr. are Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott who received 8% and 5% of the responses respectively. Mahomes is disliked by fans of opposing teams owing to their belief that the Kansas City Chiefs get favorable calls from the referees when they are on offense.
Dak Prescott is likely on this list because he is on the Dallas Cowboys and the fact that he is considered a top quarterback in the league despite failing to lead his team past the first round of the playoffs.
