Since retiring Brett Favre was first sought after for his opinions on several subjects surrounding the NFL. But over the past few years, that stopped completely after he found himself amid a scandal. Since then, he has tried to fix his image by returning most of the money he swindled. But apparently, fans won’t forget that he still owes money that was meant for welfare after his latest politically-driven tweet.
The 3-time league MVP was observing how the current political landscape is shaping in the country. With one side lobbying for immigrants not to be harassed, Favre took to his official X account to voice his opinion.
If you’re born in the USA or an American citizen and you put other countries above us, then that’s unpatriotic. That’s it.Favre wrote.
This tweet targets the Democrats, who have been actively fighting for immigrants’ right to stay in the country. Something the Republicans led by Donald Trump have been talking about as a threat to the nation.
But what led the post to go viral was due to the former Green Bay Packers legend’s use of the word ‘unpatriotic’. In light of his direct involvement in the Mississippi Welfare Funds Scandal, fans took offense to his words. He participated in the embezzlement scheme that diverted millions from a Public Welfare Fund.
He returned most of the money he allegedly received, and they have not yet indicted him. But he is battling the Mississippi Department of Human Services in a lawsuit filed against him over lost interest earnings from that embezzled amount.

Fans fully aware of the updates of Brett Favre‘s lawsuit were quick to remind him what patriotism meant. They found his jibe at the Democrats unfit for someone who was part of an embezzlement scheme.
Diverting money from a welfare fund into his coffers and then talking about patriotism was poor timing. Had he done this after he was completely cleared of all wrongdoings, it would not have drawn these many reactions.
