Monday Night Football looked like it was going away from the New York Jets at one point. The Buffalo Bills stunted the Jets drives, forcing them to punt twice.
On both occasions, Josh Allen led his team to score crucial points. The last one ended with just 21 seconds to go for the first half. But for Aaron Rodgers, that amount of time is more than enough for him to resort to one of his best throws.
He first started at their own 30-yard line as two throws netted only 18 yards. More importantly, it shaved 13 seconds off the clock. With just eight seconds left, the Jets called timeout to figure out their play.
As soon as it ended, the Bills called one too, as they understood that they needed defensive adjustments as they knew what was going to happen. Then when the ball was snapped at the Jets 48-yard line, Rodgers took the ball and took a few steps back.
In that time, his receivers ran up to the end zone, but so did the Buffalo Bills‘ defensive backs. Aaron Rodgers set his feet and launched a Hail Mary, which ended up in Allen Lazard‘s hands as he came down on his back. He had full control of the ball, but one of the defenders punched it out. Therefore, one referee called it a touchdown, while the others were not sure.

After talking about it amongst themselves, they ruled it a touchdown as Allen Lazard came down in the red zone on his back with full control. The defender punched it out after he landed, handing the New York Jets a crucial six points. Greg Zuerlein kicked the extra point, and the New York Jets ran to their locker room breathing a sigh of relief.
Fans in disbelief watching Aaron Rodgers’ Hail Mary miracle
Fans packed inside MetLife Stadium knew the significance of this touchdown. This was not just another miracle play by one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. But it was also a much-needed one. As had they not scored, they would have been down 10, heading into the second half. What blew the minds of fans was that Rodgers shed all doubts at age 40 to heave it in.
It has been some time since fans of the game have seen something like this happen, which is why they took to social media to give the four-time league MVP his flowers. Check out some examples below;

If anything, this Hail Mary should galvanize the New York Jets as they look to avoid another home loss. The significance of this will be felt throughout this season. Aaron Rodgers is leading the team by example.
