AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers has been among the most consistent performers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The South African icon who is the only overseas player to play at least one match in each edition of the IPL, has garnered such a huge fan following from playing in the tournament that he receives adulation on par with Indian icons and legends. He will be seen in action yet again in IPL 2021.
de Villiers would continue with his side Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) quest for a maiden IPL trophy. Last season, the side had an excellent start but couldn’t capitalize on it as a late slump saw them scrape through to the playoffs before getting eliminated at the hands of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator. Having made some smart buys, RCB would want a much better showing.

AB de Villiers spoke to Cricbuzz about his best IPL XI and said, “Last night I was thinking that if I pick my IPL XI and I include myself, how bad would that look. So, opening the batting, I would pick someone whom I started with at Delhi, Viru (Virender Sehwag) at 1 and someone who I think has played some of the best cricket in the world in the last five years, Rohit at No. 2.”
“Then obviously Virat at No. 3, followed by I’d say either Williamson, or Smith, or myself these are the two replacements. Ben Stokes at 5, MS at six as captain, and at No. 7, I’d put Jaddu, Mr. Jadeja. Rashid Khan at 8, Bhuvi at 9, Kagiso Rabada at 10 and Bumrah at 11,” de Villiers added.
The full XI: Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson/Steve Smith/AB de Villiers, Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni (C and WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kagiso Rabada, Jasprit Bumrah
de Villiers and RCB will be seen in action on the first day of IPL 2021 as they face defending champions Mumbai Indians in Chennai.
