AC Milan climb to the top of Serie A, courtesy a Ibrahimovic brace


Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice on his first start in two months as AC Milan beat Cagliari 2-0. AC Milan pulled ahead of city rivals Inter on top of the Serie A table.
Ibrahimovic, 39, got the first from the penalty spot after seven minutes, adding a second just after the break. Ibrahimovic now has 13 goals in 13 matches this season.

The Swedish star equalled Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez with 12 goals in just 8 Serie A. He is second in leading goal scorers in the league only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ibrahimovic replied in his own confident self when asked about Milan’s chances of winning the Scudetto this season. He replied – ” I believe in me, I believe in Zlatan.”
After defeating Cagliari away from home, Milan equalled their away winning streak in Serie A from 1994-95.
Milan played the last quarter of the match with 10 men and were able to defend their lead. Milan manager Stefano Pioli, was impressed with his team’s performance and believed in his team to churn out results .

Pioli said, “This victory is a sign above all to ourselves more than Inter. We all want to bring Milan back to the top. The team will do everything from here to the end.”
“Now we have an important game against Atalanta (Saturday), we focus on that, then in March and April we will see where we are.”
AC Milan are currently top of the Serie A table in their hunt for a first Scudetto since 2011. They next face Atalanta at San Siro.
