The Master Manipulator gave a special shoutout to Tom Brady while discussing his retirement.

Adam Copeland, formerly Edge, is quite realistically in the last innings of his in-ring career. Every now and then, a tantalizing curveball is thrown at him, with the fans wondering how long he’d be able to perform at this level with the 11-time World Champion being in his fifties now. Recently, he was a guest on the Mostly Sports podcast. During the conversation, Adam brought up something that NFL great Tom Brady has mentioned in the past.
Copeland elucidated the dichotomy he has experienced in the two runs he’s had in wrestling. Noting that he might’ve gotten a tad sluggish physically, he’s in the best place mentally right now. And that’s where he quoted the 7-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. Edge noted how Tom Terrific harnessed his mental prowess in the later stages of his career. The 46-year-old led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their second-ever Super Bowl triumph back in 2021.
As it sounds, the incumbent AEW Superstar is yearning to follow Brady’s suit. And to be fair, The Rated-R Superstar is having the time he’s grateful for under Tony Khan-backed creative. About a month ago, the WWE Hall of Famer captured the TNT Championship from longtime friend-turned-foe Christian Cage on an episode of AEW Dynamite.
I might not be as fast as I used to be, but I feel mentally I’m better than I’ve ever been. That is why a guy like Tom Brady goes, ‘Yeah, well, mentally, I’m better than I’ve ever been. I see the game better than I’ve ever seen it.’Adam Copeland on Mostly Sports podcast
Cope also believes that he has a year and a half left in this gig. He doesn’t want to bother the next crop of wrestlers as aging continues to subdue the former WWE Superstar. While Brady has done enough in his career to be regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time, Edge is seeking that one last ascend to the top before he calls it a day.
Adam Copeland recently cut a contentious promo on AEW Dynamite
The Canadian wrestler was recently under scrutiny by a portion of fans on the internet. They took the 50-year-old under radar for cutting a pro-AEW promo days after CM Punk lambasted Tony Khan’s company.
The Ultimate Opportunist said that there had been some bullsh*t spewed out that he needed to address. Adam put the AEW roster over by saying he’s having the most fun he’s ever had in his career being there. And that’s exactly what matters at the end of the day.
He’s all for giving it back to this business. Copeland had his last match in WWE against Sheamus in August. The two lads went out in front of a packed house in Toronto and delivered a top-notch display of what an ideal match looks like.
