Prior to AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland revealed that he had bought his childhood home on social media. However, Strickland made the grave mistake of flaunting this heartwarming news. What he forgot was that there was a certain Cowboy circling his every move, whether it be professional or personal. The former AEW World Champion found out about this the hard way during the show.
In the closing segment, Strickland was in the ring, awaiting the arrival of his All Out opponent to sign their contract. “Hangman” Adam Page appeared on the big screen, and instantly fans knew what was about to transpire. Page entered Strickland’s childhood home while mocking the latter. Moments later, the former Elite member set fire to the house as his rival watched on helplessly.
The go-home angle for their upcoming Steel Cage match was undoubtedly one of the best wrestling segments in recent history. A feud as personal as it gets, Strickland and Page have been at each other’s throats for almost a year. Although Swerve has a 2-0 advantage over Hangman, those two wins came via outside assistance.
Therefore, the former WWE star will look forward to not only winning clean but also exacting revenge on Page. In addition to his latest antics on Dynamite, Strickland has blamed the Virginia native for costing him the AEW world title at All In. Needless to say, this Saturday’s match is one of the most anticipated encounters of this year.
Why “Hangman” Adam Page burned down Swerve Strickland’s house on AEW Dynamite
As mentioned before, “Hangman” Adam Page’s deranged actions were foreshadowed by several fans online. Since returning to AEW, Page has set out on a revenge tour against Swerve Strickland. After all, who can blame him?
Strickland crossed the line first when he invaded Hangman’s home and put his shirt on the latter’s baby. If that wasn’t enough, Swerve drove to Page’s house after the Revolution PPV. The 33-year-old revealed that he watched on as his rival helped his pregnant wife and took her to the hospital.
Hence, Strickland was always going to face the consequences of making his feud with Page personal. Speaking of their upcoming must-see bout, Tony Khan later announced that the match will now be contested in a Lights Out Steel Cage match.
