Adrian Beltre caused a massive uproar on social media on Monday. The former MLB star claimed that Wander Franco deserves another chance in the MLB.
Franco found himself in the spotlight in August 2023 after shocking posts of him being in an illegal relationship with a 14-year-old minor surfaced. He was placed on the MLB’s restrictive list.
As per reports, the relationship began in December 2022 when Franco was 21 years old. The mother of the minor was also found guilty of trafficking her daughter.
Last week, Franco was once again found guilty of s**ual and psychological abuse of a minor. The 2023 MLB All-Star was initially found guilty in 2025 by the Puerto Plata Collegiate Court. Though he kept pleading non-guilty, the verdict went against him.
However, Franco will not get locked up behind bars. The court declared that he was also a “material victim, but not a legal one” in the case and granted him judicial pardon.
Meanwhile, the court convicted the mother of the minor of trafficking and slapped her with a 10-year imprisonment. A full decision from the court will be declared on June 16.
Amidst this, Adrian Beltre has come to the defense of Franco. In a conversation with TMZ Sports at the LAX this week, the 4-time MLB All-Star believed that the suspended Tampa Bay Rays star deserves another chance.
It’s a sensitive situation, but I think, I believe that everybody has a second chance.

Franco’s chances of coming back to the league are very slim. He will have a hard time getting a Visa and returning to the United States. Unless the 25-year-old gets a full exoneration from a crime of moral turpitude, he will not be allowed to come back to the MLB.

Despite the support of Beltre, Franco might never get the chance to come back. Before this incident, Franco was having a solid time in the MLB and had signed a huge 11-year, $182 million contract extension with the Rays. The shortstop was batting with a .281 average and had 17 home runs and 58 RBIs in the 2023 season.
Wander Franco remains under investigation by the MLB
A Dominican Republic Court found Wander Franco guilty of s**ually abusing a minor. While he has avoided jail time, he is still barred from the MLB. The league is still investigating the player.

In a statement released last week, the league simply claimed that they will conclude its probe at an appropriate time.
We are aware of today’s verdict in the Wander Franco trial and will conclude our investigation at the appropriate time.
The MLB said in their statement regarding Wander Franco
Even if all the charges against him are dropped, there is no guarantee he will be allowed to return. At the moment, he is being investigated under the Joint Domestic Violence, S**ual Assault and Child Abuse Policy and remains on the restrictive list of the league.
