- Abner Uribe received a one-game suspension from MLB for a DX chop celebration against the Cardinals.
- The incident occurred during a game where Uribe struck out a batter and celebrated towards the opposing dugout.
- Uribe has appealed the suspension and did not apologize to the Cardinals, citing issues with their manager's behavior.
Abner Uribe was one of the talking points in the MLB this week. The Milwaukee Brewers pitcher found himself under the heat following his DX chop celebration against the St. Louis Cardinals. On Friday, he was handed 1-game suspension by the MLB.
The incident took place during the game between the Brewers and the Cardinals on Tuesday. The Brewers were leading 6-0 at the start of the 8th inning when Uribe came out of the bullpen.
After Victor Scott II grounded out, Uribe struck out JJ Wetherholt. The right-handed pitcher then gave up a walk to Ivan Herrera. After giving up a single to Jordan Walker, the Cardinals suddenly had two runners on base.
Uribe was able to keep things in control for this team as he stuck out Alec Burleson. He then celebrated wildly and proceeded to do the 3-chop celebration made famous in the 90s by the Shawn Michaels and Triple H-led wrestling stable D-Generation X.

Things could have gone worse for Uribe. Burleson had challenged the strike three call. Fortunately for the pitcher, the pitch was just inside.
Social media was left divided by this. While some joked about it, many condemned the Dominican international for this. He was replaced at the start of the 9th inning by manager Pat Murphy. The Brewers ended up winning 6-0.
On Friday, the MLB suspended Uribe. The 25-year-old was handed a one-game ban by the league, which he has appealed.

His suspension left the fans stunned. A few of them brought up the recent incident of Pete Crow-Armstrong and asked why the Chicago Cubs star was not banned.
For the unversed, during the rivalry game against the Chicago White Sox, PCA was involved in a heated altercation with a female fan. The verbal argument led to an expletive reaction from the MLB star.
While the Cubs star apologized for his actions, he was slapped with an undisclosed fine. However, he was not suspended for his choice of words.
Abner Uribe did not apologize to the Cardinals for his celebration
Abner Uribe sparked some backlash on social media following his wild celebrations against the St. Louis Cardinals. While the pitcher later apologized for his actions, he did not apologize to the Cardinals.

Following the game, the pitcher spoke through his translator. During this, he expressed that he was sorry for his celebration.
I owe an apology to the Brewers, I owe an apology to my teammates, to my manager, all the bosses of the team.
Abner Uribe said through his translator
He then pointed fingers at Cardinals’ manager Oliver Marmol. He claimed seeing the opposition manager making some signs towards his players and telling them to hit their (Brewers) players.
I don’t think it’s professional for their manager to be making signs toward our dugout saying that he’s going to be hitting guys. There was an event that occurred during the practice today, too, and I don’t think that was right. So, I have my teammates’ back always.

Meanwhile, Murphy admitted that he was embarrassed by what happened and called the incident unacceptable.
It’s just unacceptable. I don’t know what got over him. … I was embarrassed by it. Why are we doing it in a 6-0 game?

With his suspension still on appeal, Uribe was able to take part in Friday’s game action against the Houston Astros. He would escape a bases-loaded 9th inning jam while striking out Brice Matthews and popping out Isaac Paredes.
The game was tied at 4-4 when Uribe came out to pitch and loaded the bases. In the 10th inning, the Brewers took a 5-4 lead through a sacrifice fly from Brice Turang.
Uribe was then replaced in the bottom of the 10th inning by Trevor Megill. The relief pitcher closed out the game and helped the Brewers win 5-4. Uribe got the win from this game, which improved his season record to 3-2.
