World No. 66 Adrian Mannarino has never hesitated to share his thoughts on tennis news from around the world. Recently, the left-hander spoke about the high-profile doping cases involving Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek.

Mannarino expressed disbelief at the situation. The Frenchman believes that having two of the top players in the world involved in doping cases is harmful to the sport’s reputation.

I don’t believe in Santa Claus anymore. If there are some who want to believe in him, they can believe in him, but it’s not really my thing. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it’s still very surprising because there were two positive tests last year on the top 300 in the world and they’re both world number 1s. So I’m willing to accept that you could inadvertently take a bad pill or a bad vitamin, but it’s still very surprising.

Adrian Mannarino said on RMC Sport

Sinner’s doping case came to light in August when he tested positive twice for clostebol. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) opened an investigation, and the legal proceedings are expected to take place early next year.

Meanwhile, Swiatek has already served her one-month suspension after testing positive for trimetazidine (TMZ). She missed several tournaments in the latter half of the 2024 season but is now eligible to compete in the lead-up to the Australian Open.

Milestones Jannik Sinner can achieve in 2025

Jannik Sinner had an incredible season on the tennis court in 2024. The Italian captured the first two Grand Slam titles of his career, along with three Masters 1000 titles, the ATP Finals title, and the Davis Cup. His historic achievements have set the stage for even more potential success in 2025.

At the Australian Open, Sinner will have the chance to defend his title. If he succeeds, he will join legends like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who have also defended their Australian Open crowns. A win would also bring him level with Andy Murray’s tally of three Grand Slam titles.

In 2025, Sinner has an opportunity to achieve another rare milestone. He could join Federer and Djokovic as one of the few players to win all the hard-court Masters 1000 events. Sinner has yet to claim titles in Indian Wells and Paris. In 2024, he lost in the semifinals to Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells and withdrew from Paris at the last minute.

At the US Open, Sinner will aim to defend his title at Flushing Meadows. If he succeeds, he will be the first player since Federer in 2008 to achieve this feat. These goals underline the immense potential for Sinner to make history in 2025.
