Earlier this week, CM Punk spoke about his tough views on AEW. Punk, who spent a decent amount of time in AEW is now dealing with a far better atmosphere in WWE. Thus, the Best in the World stated that AEW has that indy mindset. A few more brutal jabs taken by The Second City Saint against AEW were indirectly answered by Adam Copeland last night on Dynamite.

The Rated-R Superstar kicked off the show with his 7-minute rant about AEW. He came in without his TNT Championship to address the wrestling fans around the world while talking with the Worcester crowd. The former WWE Superstar addressed the criticism about AEW first, but then jumped on to talk about the positives and lauded every pro-wrestling fan.

He recalled watching WWF, NWA, and Stampede Wrestling and glorified Owen Hart starting his career in Calgary. For 9 years he was out of form however he worked hard and came back because he loved the sport too much. After thorough introspection, he realized AEW was the place to end his career.

Adam Copeland started by praising the current AEW locker room and putting them in the place of the greatest ones. He came to AEW to have those first-time-ever matches. Adam claimed that he was genuinely having a blast with this AEW roster by stating that he is having the most fun in his 32 years of career.

There is a lot of negative BS that has been spewed this week, right? There has. Screw That!
Adam Copeland glorifies AEW

Adam is sticking by the fact that we should celebrate the AEW and the men behind it. The EVPs and Tony Khan are fans of wrestling and that’s not a negative or something to be made fun of. He claims AEW has pushed the industry into a better place and has opened the gates for more people to do what they love. According to him, AEW makes pro wrestling better, fun, and indeed, the place where all the best wrestle.

CM Punk feels AEW is not a sustainable business

While speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, CM Punk clarified his views about the pro wrestling industry. He feels that the business is about money and AEW focuses more on the wrestling aspect of it. This connects them with the indie mindset, differing from his approach of selling out the show.

The Best in the World sees that there are different metrics for determining the success of AEW. There’s nothing wrong with having a huge indie show, but the television needs something else. He believes that delivering five-star matches when the arena is a quarter full does not do well for the business.

If you’re some goof saying you had a five-star match and the building is a quarter full, we’re not in the same business.
CM Punk about AEW and Dave Meltzer’s star ratings

Punk believes AEW will continue to exist as long as Tony Khan puts money in it. His perception about the President was that he was a nice guy but not a boss. He cited that by saying how he could have easily been released after Brawl Out. However, making a separate show for him is a downgrade for business.
