For the first time in 13 years and the first time on AEW, Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland and Christian Cage squared off in a squared circle. The match for the TNT Championship happened in the main event of AEW Dynamite, airing live from both stars’ home country of Canada. It was expected for them to have a banger match, but an unexpected tribute to the Celtic Warrior Sheamus happened from Adam.

During the match, when Edge had the momentum, he held Cage by the apron and hung him on the ropes. Copeland used Sheamus’ classic move, Ten Beats of the Bodhran, and had the crowd count for it in order to pay a tribute. He smacked Christian and pushed him onto the barricade for suffering the bump.

It was electrifying to see the tribute from Adam’s side for another close friend from the rival company. The Celtic Warrior has been stated to be Adam’s buddy responsible for his shocking return in 2020. Edge’s stint with WWE also ended in a poetic way, as he faced Sheamus in his very last match on SmackDown.

Christian, who now plays an impressive heel, came out as the eventual winner of the match. But it was not him who had the match in control; a shenanigan gave him the victory. It was surprising to see Nick Wayne‘s mother, Shayna Wayne, cost Copeland the match and have Cage retain the TNT title.

Adam Copeland was so close to winning the TNT Championship from Christian Cage in the AEW Dynamite’s main event. But Cage’s heel persona brought along some shenanigans, allowing his eventual victory. Shayna Wayne came out to hit Adam with the TNT title for injuring her son two weeks ago.

On the November 22, 2023, episode of Dynamite, Copeland applied a gruesome ConChairTo to Nick Wayne. Any other scenario would have been normal, but the attack came in front of Shayna, who saw her son suffer due to Adam. Shayna was helpless in the ring when Copeland took out his ire on Nick.

All of this was brought back to the night in Montreal as she took revenge for her son’s condition. Her attack at the crucial moment allowed Cage to perform a Killswitch and retain the championship. This made Copeland have his first loss in AEW, which also means the feud will continue in the future.
