There’s not much men left in today’s professional wrestling who can spit fire while talking. Current AEW World Champion MJF is one of them. While arriving on the scenes in All Elite Wrestling, Max started gaining notoriety through flawless promo masterclasses.

This past week, The Devil defended his AEW World Championship against Ricky Starks. Despite a valiant display of various movesets, the challenger came up short. In the ending moments, MJF executed a well-planned low-blow to retain the gold. After the match, Bryan Danielson came out and tried to catch the champ for his underhanded tactics. However, it went in vain as Maxwell was just ahead and he escaped the arena through the crowd.

Seemingly mad over how The American Dragon treated him at AEW: Winter is Coming special, MJF took to Twitter for venting out his frustration. He tweeted, “Christmas is almost as overrated as Bryan Danielson“. Obviously, he tried his best to outline the mentioned factor from his comments. We’ve yet to receive a reply from Danielson on the same. Well, it appears like they’re going to be the next feud for the AEW Championship.

Although, the Devil is second to no one, there still was a man who pushed MJF to his limits. The fact that CM Punk is the childhood hero of Maxwell wasn’t hidden from anyone. Once Punk joined AEW, everybody would dream about this feud turning into reality, against MJF. The story was there and it was just needed to be on television.

The inevitable happened and both men entered into a program. For weeks, Punk and MJF would verbally destroy each other. At AEW Revolution this year, they battled in a Dog Collar match, which turned out to be a bloodbath. After minutes of brutal beatdown and leaving each other busted open, CM Punk emerged victorious.

However, when CM Punk became AEW World Champion, he himself pushed his legacy in deep waters after that controversial All Out media scrum. The promotion was forced to suspend Punk, and ever since then we haven’t seen any of the Chicago’s own on AEW television.

Had nothing of this happened, MJF was destined to challenge Punk for the title. But, not everything works the way we expect. Where on the one hand, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has risen to the top of food chain in AEW, Punk’s wrestling future remains uncertain.
