Saraya's neck injury has put questions on her capability. As she faced Britt Baker, she seemed deprived of energy. Saraya finally gives her take on the same.

Saraya and Dr. Britt Baker

The end of 2022 marked a great beginning for Saraya, aka Paige. The former WWE star, who had been kept away from the ring for almost five years, finally stepped into it. Her condition, however, was not as strong as it once was, which raised concerns about her in-ring performance.

Saraya is now with AEW, where she competed against Dr. Britt Baker at the Full Gear pay-per-view. Baker is one of the top names in the division, and going against her would have invited a lot of trouble for the former WWE star. Saraya was also not in her best physical condition during the match, and she has now spoken out about it on the WHOO’s House Podcast.

This producer is like, ‘Why was your head down the whole time?’ And I was like, ‘I was blowing the f*** up. I could not breathe,” she revealed. She also added that she fell short of breath during the match. This led to an insufficient supply of oxygen to her brain, which thus confused her as to where she was.

During the course of the match, Saraya pushed her limits with the entire strength she carried within her. Finally, with much struggle, she put Britt Baker down and emerged victorious. Saraya’s victory benefited not only her, but also the audience members who cheered her on. This was just one step she took to break free from the constraints of WWE’s non-action roles.

Why was Saraya away from in-ring action?

Saraya had been signed to WWE before AEW, where she performed under the ring name ‘Paige.’ A talented young star, she was the youngest WWE Divas Champion at the age of 19. She carried great potential to rise to the top of the division, but destiny had other plans. Paige was out of WWE bookings for a long time in 2016 due to a neck injury.

She later made her way into the ring in 2017 with full force. Paige got into massive action against the top women in the division, including Sasha Banks, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, and others. However, the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion, Paige, received a brutal kick from Banks at the same spot on her neck.

The match had to be stopped, and Paige had to keep herself away from all the action. She then joined the company in a managerial role, but it wasn’t where she wanted to be. After a long wait, the medical team finally signals a green light for her action roles. Paige is now back as Saraya, all set to claim her spot in the AEW Women’s Division.
