Former AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm has found a new character that is getting a lot of attention from fans. She now plays an actress from the past who has lost her fame. The highlight of the character is Toni’s backstage interviews and promos from Collision. This week’s promo was no different, as she talked about the past. She also referenced the awkward segment she had with Charlotte Flair in 2021 on SmackDown.
While talking about the interview with RJ City, Toni said that things are not as easy as they used to be. People used to cheer you on if you wore a hat backward or if you slapped a pie in someone’s face. This was an obvious reference to when she slapped a pie in Charlotte Flair’s face on an episode of SmackDown. The segment was not received well by fans. It was because it belittled Toni Storm, and fans could not see her as a legitimate threat to Flair’s title.
The concern from the fans turned out to be right, as Flair easily defeated Toni convincingly. Storm would also leave WWE following her defeat. She then soon joined AEW, where she found greater success as she became a two-time AEW Women’s Champion. She was also part of a faction called the Outcasts, which comprised the women wrestlers from WWE who had jumped to AEW to take over.
The group consisted of Ruby Soho, Toni Storm, and former WWE Divas Champion Paige, who is now known as Saraya. Saraya is currently the AEW Women’s Champion, which she won at All In: Wembley in front of her family and friends in London.
Charlotte Flair to face Iyo Sky and Asuka at Fastlane
Queen Charlotte Flair is in the mix for a championship reign again. She is now in a triple-threat match for the Women’s Championship at Fastlane. She will be facing Asuka and Iyo Sky on the night as she aims for the 15th championship win of her career. A 15th title win will put her in the second position after John Cena and her father Ric Flair for the most number of championships.
Fans are expecting that Charlotte Flair might win the match by pinning Asuka. Many are also speculating that this might be the only reason Asuka was added to the feud. This is because Iyo Sky cannot take the pin but has to somehow lose the title. Therefore, fans will not be surprised if Flair wins on Sunday and goes on to have a feud with Sky over the title in the coming months.
Sky is currently on the run of her life, as she has been playing banger matches regularly. Bayley has also been a key player in the feud, as she is Iyo Sky’s close friend and has had her eye on the championship for a very long time. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how WWE plans to proceed with the Women’s Championship.
