After breaking WNBA, Caitlin Clark hits 34 million mark on golf debut
WNBA and Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was invited to play in a Pro-Am golf tournament as an amateur this week.
The Annika golf tournament featured WNBA and Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark playing as an amateur
Caitlin Clark drew a lot of fans at The Annika Pro-Am golf tournament. Considering what the WNBA superstar has drawn in the league and for women’s basketball in general, those numbers were not unexpected.
It was revealed that the tournament drew twelve times more ticket sales than usual, just because Caitlin Clark was playing. That is despite the tour already featuring the top women golfers. Pictures and clips from the tour and coverage by Golf Channel showed hordes of fans lining up the course.
Those clips and pictures were shared on the social media pages of the LPGA. According to analytical firm Zoomph, the LPGA’s official accounts alone garnered seven million impressions. Unofficial accounts and content posted on various social media sites garnered a further 27+ million.
That makes Caitlin Clark‘s social media impact just by playing golf to over thirty-four million. Surely, a staggering number for any sporting event. It mimics what she has been doing for the WNBA in her debut season, as there too, numbers were up by the multiples.
Her own team, the Indiana Fever, now has more followers on X than their big brother, the Indiana Pacers. If her influence continues to draw sellout crowds, the Fever will eventually become more popular than the multi-billion-dollar Pacers.

This was the 22-year-old’s first foray into another sport. However, she did not do it as a professional, as it undermines her current profession as a basketball player. But as an amateur, she could take part in other sporting events.
Tennis star wants Caitlin Clark as doubles partner
Caitlin Clark’s father had previously revealed that she was exceptionally good at soccer. But ever since she took basketball seriously, she had to let go of her soccer dreams. That makes her a multi-dimensional athlete. But golf is more of a hobby for her.
She also plays pickleball a lot with her friends and teammates. That probably gave professional tennis player Caroline Dolehide an idea after watching what the Indiana Fever superstar has done for golf in just one event.
The Wimbledon and French Open doubles semi-finalist knows that, if anything, the crowds will come in by the numbers. Considering her competitive nature, it may not be surprising if the WNBA Rookie of the Year ends up playing decently well for an amateur.

With that, it is further proof that she is a phenom in every right. Pulling millions to one’s own sport is spectacular, but pulling those many to other sports, even as an amateur, suggests she is a transcending superstar in her own right.
