Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar is furious at Babar Azam and Co. after the latter’s humiliating defeat by one run from Zimbabwe yesterday [Thursday, October 27]. Deeply hurt by the turn of events, Akhtar failed to remain calm and bashed out even on India, saying Men in Blue will soon come back next week after playing in the semi-final.
Zimbabwe posted 130/8 in 20 overs and defended this small target with Sikandar Raza‘s three-wicket haul. Apart from Shan Masood, Pakistan’s wickets fell like a pack of cards, and the middle order yet again failed after a flop Babar Azam-Mohammad Rizwan’s opening show. Reviewing the match on his YouTube channel, Akhtar expressed his fury on Pakistan team’s poor selection before predicting that India will have the same consequence as their neighbors; India have grabbed four points by defeating Pakistan and the Netherlands.
“I had already told Pakistan that they will come back this week. And India will come back next week after playing in the semi-final. Voh bhi koi Tees Maar Khan nahi hai (India are also not some unbeatable side) and we are even worse,” Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.
The 47-year-old went on to criticize the middle order and lambasted Babar’s captaincy saying the latter is not at all listening. He even called Babar a ‘bad captain’.
“I have been saying this repeatedly, these openers, the middle order aren’t good enough for us to get success at this level. What can I say? Pakistan have a bad captain. Pakistan is out of the world cup in the second game. Against Zimbabwe. Babar, come one down but he is not listening. Major flaw in Shaheen Afridi’s fitness. A major flaw in captaincy,” added Akhtar.
Shoaib Akhtar says management and PCB chairman don’t have brains
Shoaib Akhtar then bashed Pakistan’s management and PCB chairman for not selecting a proper middle-order. He wants Fakhar Zaman to open the innings because he is a back-foot player. He wants the management to realize that their cricket is deteriorating, and also said that PCB and management “don’t have brains”.
“Ultimately, it’s not you but we have to face the media. We have to sit in India. We have to give answers to the world. What answers can we give now? No plans, no middle order, no openers … I was saying if Zimbabwe bowled length balls, they would win here. I don’t have trust in this team,” he added.
