Jannik Sinner was undoubtedly the best men’s player of the 2024 season. Despite his doping saga, the Italian didn’t get distracted on the court and was able to earn several titles since August.
The Italian is now eyeing another strong run in 2025 and former tennis player Alex Corretja has revealed key reasons why he will be above other players. Sinner claimed a stunning eight titles this year, more than any other player on the ATP Tour.
The World No. 1 opened his campaign by winning the Australian Open and later clinched the US Open too. He won his third Masters 1000 title in Shanghai after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Then, the 23-year-old ended the year lifting the Nitto ATP Finals title in Turin.
One of Sinner’s biggest achievements in 2024 was his consistent performance against the Top 10. The only Top 10 player to trouble Sinner was Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner earned a 17-5 win-loss record against the Top 10 in 2024.
The 23-year-old lost to Alcaraz thrice and once to Andrey Rublev. This dominating factor in Sinner’s game has earned him praise from Corretja. The former player opined that players find it hard to keep up with Sinner’s game level as he will be unplayable in 2025.
It’s very difficult to keep up with him because he’s like a marathon runner, from start to finish – and he’s going full throttle. So the players have a hard time keeping up with him, and they don’t know how to deal with that. He’s going to get better and better because I think he has the will and the talent to do it. I expect him to have a very good season in 2025.

Sinner will hope to continue with his 2024 form next season as he looks to maintain his World No. 1 position. He is set to defend 11,830 points in 2025, starting with the Australian Open.
Serena Williams’ ex-coach praises Jannik Sinner for handling the doping case properly
When the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced Jannik Sinner’s doping case in August, there were questions about whether the Italian would handle the situation properly. Surprisingly, he did just that and even avoided suspension.

Sinner put aside his off-court troubles and kept on winning titles until the end of the season. Serena Williams’ ex-coach Rick Macci has praised the 23-year-old for handling the pressure well and focusing on winning on the court.
He is controlling the center of court better than anybody and is getting Xmas presents on his serve. But most of all handling pressure from the media/ players about the doping Scandal the Italian Flame thrower is now #1 and nobody can hold a holiday Candle. @janniksin.

However, Sinner’s fate still hangs in the balance. The World Anti-Doping Agency has already appealed his doping case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports. The case may be heard in February, which will determine whether the Italian gets suspended or not.
