Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur had a day to forget in the Australian Open quarterfinals against Jannik Sinner. The 25-year-old managed to win only six games in a brutal match against the World No. 1.
However, de Minaur showed some sharpness of his own on social media. Pavvy G, a massive Novak Djokovic fan with a strong negative stance against Sinner, accused de Minaur of lacking belief against the two-time Grand Slam champion.
Pavvy G has been vocal against Sinner due to the ongoing doping scandal. In response to this, de Minaur replied with a hint of sarcasm.
Hey mate it’s a shame that you never became a good enough player to experience playing Jannik. I’m sure you would’ve put up a better performance and know exactly how to beat him. Wishing you all the best!!!

Although his exit was disappointing, de Minaur can be proud of his achievements. He reached the quarterfinals of his home Grand Slam for the first time and has made the last eight at all four Grand Slams.
Jannik Sinner shows ruthlessness against Alex de Minaur
Jannik Sinner looked unstoppable on Wednesday night at the Australian Open. He defeated Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarter-finals.
The world No. 1 showed excellent form, needing only one hour and 48 minutes to secure the win. He dominated with strong baseline shots and kept his hopes alive for back-to-back titles in Melbourne.
Sinner broke De Minaur’s serve early in the match and continued to apply pressure. He converted six of his 10 break points and lost only 10 points on his own serve throughout the match.
This win marked Sinner’s 19th straight victory at hard-court Grand Slams. Next, the 23-year-old Italian will face Ben Shelton, who earlier defeated Lorenzo Sonego in four sets.
