Jannik Sinner took some days off after winning the Paris Masters. He enjoyed a round of golf with his team members in Turin, where on November 9, the ATP Finals will start.

The Italian took to social media to share a few pictures of himself and his team enjoying their time on the golf course. Sinner, however, is yet to learn golf well. Last year, his coach Darren Cahill showed a hilarious moment when Sinner swung his club, only to fail in hitting the ball, while his dad, Hanspeter Sinner, broke into laughter.

Alex de Minaur has also arrived in Turin and will be making his second consecutive appearance at the year-end championships. He will aim toward reaching the semifinals for the first time. Last year, he lost all three round robin matches, including one to Sinner. When Sinner’s golf swing from his latest outing surfaced on the internet, the Australian ace made sure to pull his leg.

I think I could finally beat you at something.

On the tennis court, de Minaur is still waiting to win his first match over the four-time Grand Slam champion. Sinner met the World No.7 a total of 12 times, winning all those fixtures.

They last met in the semifinals of this year’s Vienna Open, where Sinner secured a straight-set win before defeating Alexander Zverev to win his second title in the tournament. De Minaur was last seen in action at the Paris Masters, where he lost to Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals.

Jannik Sinner on how he deals with criticism

Jannik Sinner gave a glimpse into his mindset on how he deals with the non-stop criticism. The World No.1 landed in hot water last year because of his doping scandal, and after much drama, it seems the tennis world has forgotten much about it. But criticism has become a part of athletes’ daily lives, whether they win or lose. Sinner knows this, and during an interview with Sky Sports, he gave an interesting take on how he handles critics’ comments.

There will always be criticism. If you win, why didn’t he win more quickly? If you lose, if you don’t play a tournament, if you do. Whatever you do, you’re making an error for those that criticize you. Critics help sometimes, but the most important thing is the people around you; even if it’s trivial, it’s the solution. I always had honest people around me, my family, all the team, that is what I need to be okay.

So far this season, Sinner has failed to defend six titles, including the US Open. The ATP Finals now remain the only tournament where the 24-year-old will enter as the defending champion.

Tennis is a very individual sport, so you have to make choices on your own; has always and will always be like this. It’s something so personal that we feel as athletes. Everyone makes their own choices. I’m someone that doesn’t want or feels the need to answer with words, I prefer to go on court and play, because I know nobody can yell at me or speaks to me or yell at me on the court. When it’s over, I take a shower and just go home.

Because of his Paris Masters win, also his first win this season at this level, Sinner dethroned Carlos Alcaraz to reclaim his No.1 position. But he once again dropped to the second spot in the live rankings, as he has 1,500 points to defend in the year-end championships. Last year, en route to defeating Taylor Fritz in the final, Sinner won all of his matches in straight sets.
