Alex Pereira is ready to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against top contender Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313. It will be his fourth ever title defense, and is going into the fight as a fan favorite to win. As expected, things got heated during the press conference, and one particular question definitely made the Brazilian mad. 

After the fight was announced, there was always a sense of serious rivalry between both Pereira and Magomed. At the press conference, both fighters used translators but that didn’t take away anything from the clash of auras. However, there was a question by a Russian reporter, which definitely might have crossed some lines.

The reporter mocked Pereira by asking Ankalaev if he was going to send the Brazilian back to work in the tire shop. While the contender gave a respectful answer, the reporter did catch the attention of the champion. Alex Pereira was seen looking at the report menacingly, with his iconic cold-blooded expression.

Many fans assumed that the question made ‘Poatan’ mad who worked very hard in a tire shop in his struggling years. However, the Brazilian superstar has not forgotten his humble beginnings, and even visited the place after becoming a champion. It will be interesting to see whether this anger can transpire to the title fight this weekend inside the T-Mobile Arena.

Former UFC champion predicts Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313

Alex Pereira is currently one of the biggest superstars in the UFC roster and defended his title thrice last year. He knocked out everybody but there were doubts about him fighting a skilled wrestler like Magomed Ankalaev. Throughout the fight week, the narrative about Ankalaev taking down Pereira has remained the topic of discussion.

The title challenger has been quite sneaky with his remarks and remains confident about becoming the new light heavyweight champion. The champion, however, doesn’t care and has been training his ground game for months now. In a recent video, former UFC champion, Alexander Volkanovski shared his predictions for the bout. 

I don’t see him (Ankalaev) being able to submit Pereira unless Pereira gives something up in his process to building up… I’m gonna go with a favorite on this one, Alex Pereira, KO. I’m gonna go with KO/TKO. I think with him, it’s always a pretty safe bet.

Volkanovski also explained that the knockout will most probably happen in the later rounds. Apart from his wrestling prowess, Ankalaev also has sharp striking technique. However, going toe to toe with Pereira could turn lethal at any moment of the fight.
