Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland seem to have developed a good friendship together. ‘Poatan’ helped Strickland train for his middleweight title fight against Israel Adesanya. Now, clips of the two spending time sparring together and having fun have made it to the internet.
A recent video of Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland made it to the internet. The video is from Alex Pereira’s Instagram story where Strickland comes out of the gas station and Poatan is already in his car. Strickland makes a joke about Pereira’s car and heads into his own with ‘Poatan’ repeatedly saying his signature keyphrase- “Chama no chama” which is akin to the English phrase “let’s go”. Strickland too responded with a loud “Chama” of his own.
Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland fought at UFC 276 back in July 2022. Pereira won the fight via knockout in the first round. He caught Strickland with a left hook, followed by a right hand, which sent Strickland to the canvas.
Strickland and Poatan sparred quite recently. The two then later took to social media to express their appreciation for one another. This was when Strickland wrote that the light heavyweight champion needs to be scientifically studied questioning how the Brazilian hit so hard. Six out of the nine UFC fights under his belt have ended in KO/TKO wins.
Dricus Du Plessis comments on Sean Strickland’s Instagram post
Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis fought at UFC 297. It was Strickland’s first title defense after winning the middleweight title off of Adesanya. The fight lasted for five intense rounds and Du Plessis narrowly secured the victory by split-decision.
While Strickland demanded for an immediate rematch, he also fought Paulo Costa and secured his win by a split decision. Now, Strickland wants a shot at the UFC Gold and he is adamant that he should fight for the title next. Recently, Strickland posted a video on Instagram of Dana White saying du Plessis lost at UFC 297. He also wrote a caption expressing his confidence in winning the belt back.

Du Plessis saw Strickland’s Instagram post and responded with the comment – “Yes but it’ll be a paid appearance.” The middleweight division is currently stuck with a busy lineup for the middleweight title. Robert Whittaker likely secured the #1 contender spot with his win at UFC Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Adesanya made a comeback and will take on the South African champion this August at UFC 305. So, it will be interesting to see when the UFC allows the highly anticipated rematch between Strickland and ‘Stillknocks’.
