On Friday, Los Angeles Dodgers star Alex Vesia shared a heartbreaking update on social media. In a joint Instagram post with his wife, Kayla, the couple announced the tragic death of their newborn child during the 2025 World Series.
In April, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child during the 2025 postseason. On October 23, a day before the World Series, Vesia would leave the team. The Dodgers expressed that the relief pitcher was away from the team due to a “deeply personal family matter.”
The team did not provide any further details. There were also no expectations placed on his return to the team during the latter stages of the World Series run.
In the post on Instagram, the Vesias revealed that their daughter, Sterling Sol, passed away on October 26. He would later express his gratitude towards the Dodgers, the Blue Jays and the baseball fans for their support in this difficult time.
Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her… Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.
