‘Alexa Grasso may be the best boxer, pure boxer, in all of female mixed martial arts’ – Daniel Cormier in awe of Mexican flyweight sensation Alexa Grasso
Alexa Grasso put on an incredible performance against Maycee Barber at the recently concluded UFC 258. She dominated the 22-year old Barber for the majority of the fight, making it two wins in a row. The number 10 ranked women’s flyweight contender said at the post fight conference, “I feel amazing, I feel strong, I feel fast. I think I showed my ground game is getting better every time. Yeah, it was more strategy – take the things more calm, put her on the fence, do my wrestling, do my jiu-jitsu, the transitions I did with my coach … I was training hard for that.”
Speaking about Alexa Grasso, in a recent episode of DC and Helwani on ESPN MMA, Daniel Cormier felt that Alexa Grasso is the best pure boxer he has ever seen in women’s mixed martial arts.
‘If you are just forced to just box with Alexa Grasso, you’re in trouble‘ – Daniel Cormier
Daniel Cormier was quoted as saying, “Alexa Grasso may be the best boxer, pure boxer, in all of female mixed martial arts… Joanna kickboxer…Valentina kickboxer…Amanda Nunes kickboxer…But listen, she is the best pure boxer in MMA, because everything is tight, everything is crisp, everything goes exactly where it is supposed to go. No wasted movements. She doesn’t loop her punches. She moves her head. If you are just forced to just box with Alexa Grasso, you’re in trouble…This girl has phenomenal boxing, because she doesn’t kick very much.“
Alexa Grasso is currently 13-3 in her MMA career. The 27-year old Mexican still has a long way to go. At this rate, stitching a few more wins in a row, might see her going head to head with the champion Valentina Shevchenko. The BJJ purple belt surely has the inventory to shake up the flyweight division.
Do you agree with Daniel Cormier’s claims that Alexa Grasso is the best pure boxer in Women’s mixed martial arts?
