Alexander Bublik faced a tough challenge at Roland Garros, losing in straight sets to world number one Jannik Sinner. The Italian dominated the match with scores of 6-1, 7-5, 6-0, advancing to the semifinals without dropping a single set in the tournament so far.
The opening set was rough for Bublik. He fell behind 5-0 and only managed to get on the scoreboard with one game. That small success drew applause from the crowd, and Bublik responded by celebrating the moment humorously, as if he had won the match. Bublik wrote on Instagram:
I almost got him guys.
In the second set, Bublik raised his level and made it more competitive. Despite his improved performance, he still lost 7-5. The third set saw Sinner completely in control, closing it out with a 6-0 scoreline to seal the victory.

Bublik and Sinner share mutual respect, and Bublik has long admired the Italian’s game. Years earlier, when Sinner was just 19, Bublik had already called him “not human” due to his incredible talent.
Jannik Sinner given major boost for Wimbledon
Jannik Sinner has locked in the top seed position for Wimbledon after reaching the quarterfinals at the French Open. This result ensures that Carlos Alcaraz’s hopes of reclaiming the No. 1 ranking will be delayed at least until after the grass-court season.

Sinner, a three-time Grand Slam champion, has now held the world No. 1 spot for 52 straight weeks. He first claimed the top ranking after last year’s French Open, taking over from Novak Djokovic on June 10. His consistent performance keeps him firmly in control of the standings.
With 9,980 points in the Live Rankings, Sinner sits well ahead of Alcaraz, who has 7,650, and Zverev, who follows with 6,385. If Sinner wins his quarterfinal against Alexander Bublik, he will push his total to 10,380. A title victory in Paris would take him to 11,580 points.
Even if Sinner loses to Bublik, he will still hold a 1,130-point advantage over Alcaraz heading into the grass season. Both players are expected to play just one warm-up event before Wimbledon—Sinner at the ATP 500 in Halle and Alcaraz at Queen’s Club.
Jannik Sinner joins Rafael Nadal by accomplishing a major Roland Garros milestone
World No.1 Jannik Sinner extended his dominant run at the 2025 French Open with a commanding win over Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals. The world No. 1 showed no mercy as he defeated the Kazakh player in straight sets.

Sinner won the match 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 in just under two hours. He broke Bublik’s serve six times and faced only two break points, saving both. Since his opening match against Arthur Rinderknech, the Italian hasn’t dropped his serve.
With this win, Sinner has now collected 19 straight victories in Grand Slam events. This stretch includes his current five wins in Paris, along with his titles at the 2025 Australian Open and 2024 US Open.
At 23 years old, Sinner is the youngest male player to achieve such a winning streak at the majors since Rafael Nadal did it back in 2008. The Spaniard won Roland Garros and Wimbledon before finishing the season as the World No.1 for the first time in his career.
