Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega
The Ultimate Fighter 29 which will start filming later this month finally has its coaches revealed. According to Brett Okamoto from ESPN, Dana White told him that the UFC Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega are going to be the coaches for this season.
This season of TUF will feature the bantamweights and middleweight fighters competing for the UFC contract. The last season of TUF was filmed in 2018 featuring former Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting of this season couldn’t happen in 2019 and now it is expected that the shooting will begin in later this month and it will be streamed on ESPN +.
This year has been tough for the promotion but White has promised the fans that the Ultimate Fighter will come back soon and now it looks like he is fulfilling his promise.
Will this season be able to increase the downward going popularity of TUF? This will remain a question for both Volkanovski and Ortega.
Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title against Ortega at the end of the season
After the Featherweight title fight between the champion Alexander Volkanovski and challenger Brian Ortega got canceled at UFC 260 because of Volkanovski getting caught by COVID. Both of them are expected to face each other at the end of the season.
The date for their rematch hasn’t been officially set until now but likewise in the previous seasons, coaches are expected to face each other at the conclusion of this reality series, both of them are expected to enter the cage against each other.
This is going to be Volkanovski’s second title defense and what can be a better place for Ortega to steal his limelight than the finale of the Ultimate Fighter.
