Taylor Fritz claimed victory over Alexander Zverev in the first quarter-final of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The high-profile exhibition event features top tennis stars competing for a share of a million-dollar prize.
Zverev, ranked world number 3, fell short in straight sets, losing 6-3, 6-4 to the American. Despite the defeat, the German is set to take home $1.5 million. Fritz, meanwhile, stays in contention for the title, with the eventual winner earning $6 million.
The match showed Fritz’s strong form and composure against one of his closest rivals in the rankings. His aggressive baseline play and consistent serve made the difference throughout the encounter. With this win, Fritz advances to the semi-finals, where he will face World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz. The clash promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament.
Alexander Zverev receives coaching setback
Alexander Zverev is still searching for a new coach after tennis legend Toni Nadal reportedly declined his offer. The decision comes as Boris Becker expressed concern about Zverev’s uncertain next steps, admitting he is “a little worried about what’s going to happen next.”

Zverev began the season strongly, reaching the Australian Open final where he finished runner-up to Jannik Sinner. Many expected him to challenge both Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz for Grand Slam titles and the world No. 1 ranking.
However, his form dipped sharply afterward. The German failed to win any of the remaining Grand Slams or an ATP Masters 1000 event. His only success this season came at the ATP 500 Bavarian Championships in April.
In a bid to recover his form, Zverev sought guidance from Toni Nadal at the Rafa Nadal Academy earlier in the year. Although Nadal showed interest, he was unable to commit to a coaching role. Since then, Zverev has reached the French Open quarter-finals but suffered early exits at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Six Kings Slam seeding generates controversy
The schedule for the second edition of the Six Kings Slam has been confirmed, but Jannik Sinner will not receive a bye despite being ranked No. 2 in the world. The high-profile exhibition event will take place from October 15 to 18 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Six of the ATP Tour’s biggest stars will compete for massive prize money.

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz headlines the field alongside Novak Djokovic, Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The format includes quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. Alcaraz and Djokovic, the top two seeds, advance directly to the semi-finals, while the other four players must compete for the remaining spots.
Fritz will face Zverev for a chance to meet Alcaraz in the semis. On the other side, Sinner will take on Tsitsipas, with the winner earning a matchup against Djokovic. The matches will be held over three days—October 15, 16, and 18—with a rest day between the semi-finals and the final.
Each player is guaranteed $1.5 million for participating, while the champion will receive an additional $4.5 million, bringing the total prize to $6 million. Sinner won last year’s event after defeating Medvedev, Djokovic, and Alcaraz, but this time, the draw looks even more competitive.
