During a tense quarter-final at the Munich Open, Alexander Zverev asked for a fan to be removed after a disturbing comment from the stands. The German player was heckled during his match against Tallon Griekspoor, with the fan shouting an offensive remark related to past abuse allegations.

The incident happened in the second set when Zverev was serving at 5-5. After hearing the comment, he approached the chair umpire and requested that the fan be kicked out. Zverev said it was not the first time the same fan had said something similar.

Zverev has faced allegations of domestic violence in the past. In 2020, former partner Olya Sharypova made accusations, and in 2023, Brenda Patea, the mother of his child, did the same. Zverev has strongly denied all claims.

No charges were filed by Sharypova, and the ATP did not take action after a long investigation. The case involving Patea ended in 2024 with a settlement, where Zverev paid €200,000 and the court closed the case.

Alexander Zverev inches closer to a hattrick of Munich Open titles

World No.3 Alexander Zverev is back in the Munich final after a strong win over Fabian Marozsan. The top seed claimed a 7-6(3), 6-3 victory in one hour and 31 minutes. Zverev, who won the title in 2017 and 2018, now hopes to match Philipp Kohlschreiber’s record of three Munich titles.

In the first set, Zverev lost an early break but stayed calm and fought back to win the tiebreak. He played solid tennis from the baseline and kept his mistakes low, finishing with just 13 unforced errors compared to Marozsan’s 28.

Next, Zverev will face Ben Shelton in the final. The American showed great resilience in his semifinal, coming from behind to beat Francisco Cerundolo 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-4. Shelton saved set points in the second-set tiebreak and turned the match around.

With this result, Shelton becomes the first American man to reach a clay final at an ATP event above 250 level since Andre Agassi in 2002. His performance adds excitement to the final clash against home favorite Zverev.

Alexander Zverev gets major boost in the ATP rankings

German tennis star Alexander Zverev has a big chance to rise in the ATP rankings this week. The German star is into the final of the ATP 500 event in Munich. If he wins the title and Carlos Alcaraz loses in Barcelona, Zverev will climb to World No. 2.

Alcaraz is also chasing a big moment in Barcelona. He reached the final after beating Arthur Fils in straight sets. That win extended his unbeaten streak at the event to 14 matches. Alcaraz has already won the title twice, in 2022 and 2023.

Even though Alcaraz is gaining points this week, his No. 2 ranking is still under threat. He needs to beat Holger Rune in the final to keep that position. A loss could open the door for Zverev to pass him.

Alcaraz is still behind Jannik Sinner in the race for World No. 1. But after his Monte Carlo win, he returned to the second spot. Sunday’s final in Barcelona now holds extra pressure, with rankings and pride on the line.
